Hi I'm John Cawley

Im a recently graduated, soon to be, missionary who loves reading and the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As it turns out getting strait A's and wearing glasses doesn't win you any popularity contests. At least that's what I thought in elementary school. I have since grown to accept that I am a nerd and have benefitted so much. Having recently graduated from high school with a 3.99 GPA and scholarships to several major universities you could say that education is important to me, but I have decided to hold off going to college to serve a full time mission at the age of 18 (thanks to the recent change in age requirements). I have been called to serve in the California Sacramento mission and I am so excited to serve with all my heart, might, mind, and strength. I know that leaving my family (which I love a lot). Is the right choice. One of my biggest loves is the outdoors. I love camping, hiking, fishing, and will try just about anything outside, Although I am afraid of hights I can overcome them with a harness, and I am not a great swimmer but other than that I'm pretty adventurous. I also love reading and learning new things (my sister often chastises for watching "boring" shows on the history channel) and music is a big part of my life. I love singing hymns and find strength in them. I like rock music as well (both classic and modern).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because with the knowledge I have I could not be happy being anything else. It is a knowledge of my savior Jesus Christ that gives me comfort and assures me that I can be with my family for eternity through the blessings of the Holy Temple. I am a Mormon because it is the only church with the power to act in God's name. This power, called the priesthood, I hold and can use to bless the lives of others. Because I hold this power I am compelled to use it to invite others to come unto Christ and to ease their burdens. And I am a member because I have heard the whispered promptings of the holy spirit telling me of God's love for me and the truthfulness of his work in the latter days in the form of the book of Mormon and the restored church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly striving to be an example of the right in both word and deed, wherever I am. I have served as a leader in several of my youth groups for the young men and have found true joy in serving the older members of my community.
