Hi I'm Emily

I'm a Tagalog-speaking, BYU basketball fanatic, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I recently returned home from serving a full-time mission in the Philippines and am so grateful for the many different people I met, experiences had, and lessons learned. I am a BYU student from Virginia. I love watching and playing all sports, especially basketball. Going to the BYU basketball games is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I am the second oldest of 6 kids and love my family more than anything. I crave the outdoors-the fresh air, warm breeze, sun on my skin; I love it all! :) The gospel of Jesus Christ is my foundation in life and what brings me joy and hope every single day.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, prayed to my Heavenly Father, and received a confirmation by the Spirit that this is the true gospel. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the true gospel. I know that there is a God and that He knows me personally. I know that God loves each of us and has a plan for us all. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to atone for our sins. He loved us enough to suffer and die for us. Because of the Atonement, we can all be forgiven of our mistakes and return to heaven to be with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again. I know that in order to find true joy and happiness in this life we must be obedient to the commandments of God. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are scripture from God to direct us and help us return home to Him someday. We have a prophet on the earth today who is called of God to guide and direct us in these days. I know that families can be sealed together for all time and all eternity in the temple and that we can find peace in knowing that we will see our loved ones again. I know that this is the true gospel and that nothing else can bring you greater joy than to have this truth in your life. This is the fulness of the gospel in these latter days and it is true. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Since being home from my mission, I strive daily to be the best that I can be, to follow the promptings of the Spirit and be an influence for good on those around me. I am no longer a 'full-time missionary,' but I look for opportunities every day to share the truths of the gospel with others by what I say and do.

Are Mormons Christians?

Emily
YES! "Mormons" is actually a sort of nickname given to our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Christ's name is right there in our churches name because it is His church. He is the head of this church. We are most definitely Christians. Our whole belief system is centered on Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Show more Show less
