Hi I'm Holland

I served as a missionary in the Philippines. I'm a student. I love life and learning.

About Me

I grew up with three brothers, one sister, and two wonderful, loving parents in a tiny town in beautiful Wyoming. I love mountains, starry nights, and bike riding. In school, I participated in band, speech, and track. I am a college student and I enjoy every minute of it. I love learning truth. I especially love business. Through my future career, I hope to be able to help people rise out of poverty through micro-finance. I love finding joy in everyday life. Whether it is a perfect blue sky or a beautiful patch of grass. I love laughing and making people laugh! I recently returned from serving a mission in the Philippines. I love being able to share happiness with those I meet! I decided a serve a mission because I want to help God in His work, to help His children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in truth. As I grew up, I was taught to this glorious gospel. I was taught to love the scriptures and to help others. When I was twelve, I prayed to know if the scriptures and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. I received the peace and knowledge that: Of course it is! I know that God has revealed His truths to His children in these days. That truth is found within this Church. I continue to deepen this faith as I obey God's commands and learn more and more truth. One of the most important things in my life is my relationship with my Savior and my Heavenly Father. I know I am loved and that through prayer, I can communicate with God. I can find peace, direction, and joy no matter what I'm going through.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by taking care of people within my sphere of influence; this includes my friends, family, and neighbors. I try to do what Christ would do if He were here on earth. That's why I served a mission. I enjoy visiting with people and making sure they are doing well. I serve in church by playing the piano for church services and teaching classes. I love when I fill someone's need and help them feel better. I live my faith through love. By serving the people in the Philippines, I learned to live my faith each day. As a missionary, I truly learned to love people. As I am able to serve them, I feel my faith grow. I can't even describe the joy that is found in serving the Lord on a mission.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The Law of Chastity means that you don't have sexual relations with anyone other than your spouse who you are legally married to. It is best to stay as far away from the border line as possible in order to stay safe. Before you are married, I think of it as being faithful to your future spouse by keeping yourself clean and pure. So many blessings come from being chaste. I can testify that you stay free of the undue heartache and pain. You prepare yourself for more joy as you stay pure for your future spouse. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I know, that since I am here on this earth, surrounded by glorious blessings, that God loves me. He loves me so much that He sent me to this earth in order to learn and grow. He loves us all. That's why He created this beautiful world. All our blessings come from Him. I can see His hand in my life in the simple and amazing miracles. One of these in my own life was when I went through a number of surgeries and I still wasn't healed. After much prayer, fasting and patience, I was eventually completely healed. The doctors were astonished. They said it wasn't the surgeries that healed me. It was a miracle sent from God. I know that He is involved in each of our lives. He loves us more that we can imagine. You, too, can know of His reality by praying and being reminded of your relationship with Him. He wants us to be happy. By praying and looking for the miracles in our lives, we will become closer to Him and find joy in this life and the life to come. Show more Show less
