Hi I'm Darrell

I grew up in Utah and Idaho. I served a mission in Australia & went to Vietnam. We have 6 children and 16 grandchildren.

About Me

I am a retired machinist. I drove school bus the last 5 years after retiring. 95% of the time I enjoyed the kids on the bus. I enjoy exercising with weights and bicycling. I also enjoy workiing in the the yard and the garden. W.hen I was younger I liked to climb mountains like the Grand Teton, Mount Borah, and King's peak. Nothing too difficult, but exhilarating. I used to enjoy training for fun runs, but back problems made me switch to bicycling. We have 3 sons and 3 daughters. Our baby is now 34. Being a parent is a wonderful experience and now we also get to experience grandchildren, 16 so far. We have been married 44 years. We have certainly experienced a lot of life together.

Why I am a Mormon

Through prayful study of the Bible and Book of Mormon I have developed an unshakable faith in God and Jesus Christ. Living the gospel and striving to be like Jesus Christ has confirmed to me that happiness is found in obedience, Obedience to his laws and commandments, paradoxically, is the true source of freedom. By obedience we gain freedom rather than lose it. Simply put, freedom comes from obedience, and happiness comes from service. Jesus is the Christ, the literal Son of God, there are living prophets today, and Joseph Smith was the first prophet of the restoration of the gospel in our days.

How I live my faith

I believe in service in the community and in my church. I've been on the city council and served on both county and city planning and zoning committees. I've always enjoyed helping on the 4th of July celebration in our small town. I've worked with the boy scouts in many capacities, going to scout camp several years, also camping and hiking numerous times. I love participating in all our Sunday meetings and feel it important to keep the Sabbath day holy. I believe it is a real commandment. Tithing is also an important commandment that brings blessings both spiritually and temporally. I've experienced those blessings personally. All this serving and contributing is important to living a happy life.
