Hi I'm Kayla

I'm a model, I'm a fashion merchandising student, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I like anything about fashion. I'm majoring in fashion merchandising, and minoring in business. I enjoy outfitting people and hanging out with my friends. I model, and I like being in front of a camera, rather than behind it. I also love hiking and going on my own little adventures.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a very recent covert, my baptismal date being May 18th 2013. I am a first generation convert. Meaning that no one in my family has accepted the gospel but me. My conversion story isn't one that consists over months. It consists over years. My mother and father divorced when I was 13. My mom then dated an "in-active" member of the church. He only ever told us the bad things about the church. This sparked a curiosity in me, and as the years went by I found myself thinking about the church more an more. As a senior in high school getting ready to take finals, I became extremely depressed and stressed and thought "why am I even here, why am I putting myself through this torture?". That same night I prayed to god asking that if he existed, he should point me in the right direction. From that day forward he kept pointing me in the direction of the LDS church. The last few weeks of September of 2012 I began self investigating the church. Which Ironically lead me here to mormon.org. I was surprised as all my morals and beliefs matched up with those of the churches. After many more months of fighting it I finally went to institute with a friend. They had been talking about the fall and there I learned the quote that would change my life. 2 Nephi 2:25- "Adam fell so men might be, and men are, that they might have joy". It not only explains one of the many reasons we are here; but says that we are entitled to joy. My past had been less that joyful because I couldn't focus on anything good. After I saw that quote I was able to go back and count all the blessings I hadn't even seen before. That Sunday when I met with the missionaries and they asked me if I wanted to be baptized, I said "I wouldn't have come to church if I didn't want to be baptized". Three weeks of lessons, and four missionaries later my life had changed entirely. I can honestly say that if it weren't for the church I wouldn't be here enjoying life and testifying the gospel to you. I love being mormon :)

How I live my faith

I live my faith through my calling as Family Home evening commissioner. I help organize events for my singles ward. I also visit teach with my roommate as my companion; we enjoy getting to talk about the gospel and how much change its brought to our lives. My best friend and I also do our own missionary work. Its a really great feeling to help people come to know the truth. I also scripture study as often as I can throughout the day, and go to the temple weekly.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kayla
We don't worship Joseph smith. While he is a prophet, and we do sustain him and respect him with reverence. But we Worship God our Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was vital to the restoration of the gospel during a time called the apostasy. We are extremely thankful that he did otherwise we would not have the restored gospel or the priesthood keys. Show more Show less
