Hi I'm Frank Cooper

I've always lived in the Greater Manchester area, I'm a Husband, a Father of 3, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I would describe myself as a jack of all trades, having attempted to make my living from many different careers, but thankfully I am now well retired. As the scriptures tell us our average life span is 3 score years and 10, placing me into extra time. I am part of a family of 11 children, most of whom are now passed away. I have been happily married to my wife for 52 years and counting. We have 3 adult children who are now parents in their own right.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by man who I was working with at the time. I considered him to be a strange sort of guy and began to question him about the reasons of his different behavior. He wasted no time in explaining to me that he was a Mormon. Having aroused my curiosity I spent much time asking questions about his chosen faith, and I must say at that time I found it very amusing. The most comical event happened one day whilst we were driving together seeking for sales of the equipment which we had on offer. As lunch time approached I suggested that we call in at a chip shop, but he declined, saying that he didn't want to eat lunch. My immediate response was to offer to buy him lunch because I thought he had no money, but he still declined, and so I pressed him for a reason. At which he replied quietly that he was fasting. I could not believe my ears, 'Do you mean you are going without food on purpose?' I asked him. His reply was 'yes'. I laughed so much that my sides nearly split. How stupid could a man be to starve himself on purpose. He then told me that he was fasting for something he really desired. Several months later when I was finally baptized into the church with my Wife and 2 older children, the man in question was in attendance, and he came and put his arm around my shoulder and said, 'Frank, that time in the car when I refused your kind offer of a meal, It was you at the time I was fasting for.' This made me realize the strength of the love one member can have to another. I know that this church I was baptized into in 1971 is the very same church that Jesus Christ our Savior organized during his time on the earth. I know that within the Priesthood which is handed down in a direct line from my Savior to me is the only priesthood upon the earth which has the authority to carry out the ordinances which were created by our Heavenly Father and bestowed upon us here on earth by his Son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I take great pleasure in producing a monthly news sheet for the Middleton Ward, entitled, 'The Middleton Ward Messenger.' I also like to have the Missionaries over for a meal and share some scriptures with us. I talk with others about my membership of the church at every given opportunity. I do my best to share this wonderful gift.
