Hi I'm Will

I grew up near Dallas, Texas. I'm taking a 2-year leave from the US Naval Academy to serve a mission in Tokyo, Japan.

About Me

I'm the oldest of six children, and grew up in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. I play violin and love to read and study history. I'm currently a history major at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. I just left the Academy to be a missionary, but I plan to come back as soon as I'm finished to graduate and become an officer in the Unites States Marine Corps.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the church is true. I know this because I've prayed about it, asked God in the name of Jesus Christ to tell me if it was true, and I received my answer through the Holy Spirit that it is. I know that Joseph Smith was a modern-day prophet like Moses or Samuel, and that the Church today is led and guided by Jesus Christ through modern-day prophets and apostles, like it was in ancient times. I've felt peace and strength in my life thanks to that faith, and am eternally grateful for the blessings it has brought to my family and me.

How I live my faith

I grew up attending church meetings with my family, but faith became even more important for me after leaving home for the Naval Academy. I got special permission to leave campus to go to church on Sundays, and I meet with the other LDS Midshipmen (students) and local members during the week for scripture study and what we call "Family Home Evening" on Monday nights. I just left the Academy so that I could serve as a missionary in Tokyo, Japan and tell people there about Jesus Christ and his restored church.
