Hi I'm Whitney Eaton

I grew up in a "Yours, Mine and Ours" family. I survived Lupus. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being "out of doors" (as my mother would say), playing sports (including running, LOVE running!), playing the piano, singing, reading, spending time with family (3 nephews, 8 neices) and friends, snow skiing/shoeing and working hard. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 11 years old and struggled for 3 years while doctors tested and treated me. There were several close calls, miracles witnessed and testimonies as well as relationships strengthened through the trials my family and I had to endure. Now I am back to living each day to help others be happy and find the little things to be grateful for in life. Through almost losing my own life, I now have the strongest desire for others to appreciate every moment and be grateful for what they have! I have attended BYU-Idaho for 2 semesters. There's something about the atmosphere and "Spirit of Ricks" that you just can't find anywhere else! Currently I am preparing to serve the Lord for a period of 18 months in the South Dakota, Rapid City mission. This has been the strongest desire of my heart ever since my older sister served in Arizona. I WANT to be a missionary and therefore I have been called to the work.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 8 I chose to be baptized as a member into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and therefore also receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This has been the BEST decision of my life! Through having the spirit I am able to make decisions in accordance with Heavenly Father's plan for me. Countless times, through the spirit, the truthfulness of this gospel has been witnessed to me. No one can force you to believe what the missionaries have to say to you or what the Book of Mormon says, it's a personal conversion. You believe because you FEEL it is right. The feelings are indescribable and the truthfulness unmistakable. It is through faith in my Lord Jesus Christ and His witness of the Spirit which is in me, that I am a member of this TRUE church restored on this earth by the Prophet Joseph Smith. There is none other like it. I will always be a member because I see the blessings and miracles that come from following Christ and being a member of His church. I will be forever grateful for my parents' decisions to accept this gospel when they were 8 years old. Some days I have doubts, but I know Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of us. I know He lives and understands everything we are thinking and going through. Because of this knowledge I don't worry about the doubts I have because He knows everything and that is all that matters. He will help us through every moment if we will but turn to Him for guidance. Of this I have a testimony, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

My example is the biggest way I have influenced others for good. Prayer, scripture study, attending the temple and church meetings, baring my testimony and listening to/watching uplifting media are some of the main things I do to bring me peace and happiness in my life. When I pray I can speak with my Heavenly Father about anything: concerns, gratitude, blessings, help with some part of life, etc. In return I will receive answers through serving others in callings for His church or on my own, reading my scriptures and surrounding myself with positive influences where the spirit may dwell. I dress modestly to allow for my mind and the mind of others to have clean and virtuous thoughts. I follow the commandments that have been set for our church and therefore the Spirit is able to abide in me and help others feel of my happiness. Because I have different standards set for myself than a lot of the world might have, people notice a difference. (Hopefully a good one! ;) By having faith in my Lord Jesus Christ, I am able to fulfill EVERY goal I set my mind to for, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." -Philippians 4:13
