Hi I'm Jacquelyn

I overcame dyslexia. I know how to work hard. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the same small Utah town my Great-Great-Grandfather settled in. I'm the oldest of three children and the only girl. My parents are incredible people and my little brothers are growing up to be just like them. My passions are reading, baking, skiing, acting, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. At sixteen I received the CBYX scholarship to study abroad in southern Germany for a year. Since then I have traveled quite a bit and hope to continue to do so. I love to learn and am studying as an Interdisciplinary Humanities major at Brigham Young University. I hope to obtain a doctorate degree in a yet undetermined humanities field and teach at the college level. I believe firmly in the power of a good education and I want to help others find their potential through schooling. Currently I am putting my career goals aside to serve a mission for the LDS church in Barcelona Spain. I couldn't be more excited for this opportunity. Someday, I want to get married in the temple and have my own family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I firmly believe in the church's doctrine. I was lucky enough to be born into the church and have had small, simple assurances over my lifetime that what I believe is true. I have seen the effects of living the Gospel on my own life, and they are always good. I love knowing who I am, where I came from, and where I am going. There are so many blessings that come from being a Mormon. One of the greatest is knowing that I can be with my family forever because I am sealed to them for eternity. I love the comfort of knowing my prayers will be answered. I can promise that any prayer uttered in faith will be. I am so grateful to have a living prophet who guides through the problems of today. I know he is divinely appointed and inspired. To me, the Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as Mormonism) makes perfect sense. I will continue to live it because it's true, it works, and I love it. I know with all my heart that God loves each and every one of us. He knows us; we are His children and He has not forgotten us. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered for our sins and died so that we can be eternally saved. He is our greatest example. I know that I can rely on Him completely and things will always work out. He is my best friend and He wants to be yours. From a life long cycle on wanting to believe, taking leaps of faith, and receiving answers I can honestly say this: the church is true. I know it is.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making it a part of my daily life. Everyday, I read my scriptures and pray to my Father in Heaven for guidance, blessings, and to express my gratitude. I am an active member of my ward and am always willing to do what is asked of me. I follow the Lord's commandments by being honest, modest, chaste, charitable, and loving. I try to serve in my community through organized service projects and small, consistent acts of kindness. Recently I was able to be part of a project called Story Corps. During this project some friends and I interviewed senior citizens in our community about their lives. We recorded the interviews, then transcribed them and gave copies of the transcripts to the interviewees for their posterity. It was an incredibly rewarding experience for me to hear the wisdom and experienced gained in life times of good works, and to be able to serve in a small way. I believe that the greatest contribution I can make in this world will be within the walls of my own home. Therefore, I make an effort to be a good sister and daughter by serving my family members. I am about to depart for an 18 month mission to Barcelona Spain. While I am there I will devote my time to finding those people who are searching for the truth. I want bring others unto Christ so He can show them how much He loves them.
