Hi I'm Kristen.

I love the Utah Jazz and Dr. Pepper. I want to be a sportswriter. I served a mission in Kobe, Japan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The oldest of three children. I grew up in near Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City and spent a lot of time there playing in the creek, swinging on swings, sliding down slides and playing numerous recreational and high school soccer games. I'm a die-hard University of Utah fan but felt the Spirit prompt me to apply to the School-Down-South, Brigham Young University (BYU). I acted on that prompting and I've loved every minute of it (don't worry, I still bleed red). I'm back at BYU after serving a mission in Kobe, Japan-- I absolutely loved it! I'm currently studying Communications with an emphasis in Journalism and minoring in Family Life. I'm a sports writer for BYU's newspaper, The Universe, and I cover BYU men's basketball and offseason football. I dream of returning to Japan to cover the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Why I am a Mormon

I gained witness as a 12-year-old girl after I finished reading the Book of Mormon. This was the first of many events in my conversion, and I am continually converted to this gospel I love so much. I know Heavenly Father exists because I have seen His hands and felt His love numerous times growing up, on my mission, and even now in my daily life now. I know that Heavenly Father knows and loves me individually. He wants me to succeed and He wants to help me do so. I know that families can be together forever and spending eternity with mine is going to be beautiful. I'm a Mormon because I know the gospel is true.

How I live my faith

My experience of deciding to go to BYU instead of the U of U has set a foundation that I will continue to build upon, one step at a time. I know BYU was where I needed to be and I have been so blessed because of it. I have faith that Heavenly Father has a specific plan for me. He knows what will help me learn and grow in the best way possible. He loves each and every one of us. He knows us by name. He knows our hearts, desires, joys, and sorrows. He will never abandon us and is cheering us on from above. I know that Heavenly Father is with me every step of the way as I try to follow His plan for me-- all I need to do is knock and ask.
