Hi I'm Robert

I was born and raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii. I love to sing and cook... often at the same time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Wahiawa, Hawaii. I love food, music and laughter. I'm a bit of a goofball and I love to have lots of fun. I've always loved to sing. I started off playing the piano in 2nd grade. I played and took lessons throughout high school although it really wasn't my gig. However, when I was in elementary school I started playing in the school ukulele club. I soon found out that I could either play or sing but I just couldn't quite figure out for the life of me how to do them both at the same time! I found myself often during performances just singing and holding my ukulele. Not long after, I decided to tag along with my older brother and my dad to our local ward (LDS congregation) choir practice. I loved it. In 7th grade, I started singing in my school's choir and just grew to love it more and more. I've had always had a lower voice that all of the other kids. So, of course, I got thrown in the bass section. I continued singing throughout high school and got to sing with my high school's travelling choir in different states and music festivals. I love singing bass. Food is an interesting story with me. I'm a pretty big guy and how I love to eat. I realized that my mom wasn't always going to be there to make me good food so I just had to learn how to make the stuff myself. I waited tables for two years and then switched over to being a prep cook for a year before I graduated from high school. There's nothing like cooking for an hour and eating it all in five minutes.

Why I am a Mormon

Every member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints either has or must still have their own story of conversion. I was born into the church and was kind of just drifting by. I kind of just took everyone's word for it. It really wasn't until I was really able to see my life with and without the Gospel. I had to find out for myself whether or not I truly believed. This isn't a Gospel of "Sunday-only" members, that's not how this works. This is a gospel of "you're either in or you're out". Everyone must at one point decide for themselves whether or not this Church is truth restored or a scam. Read the Book of Mormon. Pray about it. Either God exists and will answer, or He doesn't and he won't. I got my answer. You go and get yours. Don't take anyone's word for it.

How I live my faith

I always have to remind myself that the best way to live my faith is to, well, LIVE IT! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of joy and happiness. The Gospel is a gospel that puts a smile on my face and good feelings in my mind and body. I live the Gospel happily now and that's how I plan on living it in the future. I always try to look for ways that living the Gospel changes my regular activities. For example, I really love music. Living the Gospel has really taught me not to only enjoy my favorite bands and artist but to also really appreciate spiritually uplifting music. I also really love food. The Gospel has taught me that there are not only physical benefits from good food but spiritual ones as well! I don't have to worry about what I'm putting into my body as long as I'm abiding by the standards that the Lord has set. Also part of living my faith is SHARING IT! I am currently living in Washington, DC. I am serving a full-time mission here and I love it. There is no greater joy than the joy that comes from sharing the Gospel. I've been called to served the Spanish speaking community out here and learning the Spanish language has brought even more joy as share the Gospel.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Robert
We can come to know our Father in Heaven in many different ways. However, I have found that the best way to get to know him is through the basic step that are almost universal throughout Christianity. Regular fasting, prayer, scripture study and not only adherence but willing obedience to the laws and commands of God can help us to grow to our Heavenly Father. It is also important to understand that we should look to recieve light and knowledge through church attendance and the words of modern prophets. As you do these things, you will grow closer to and come to know our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
