Hi I'm Courtney

I grew up in Henderson, Nevada and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and I am one of 4 children. I love singing and playing the piano and hanging out with my family. I have my mission call to the Canada Edmonton Mission and I leave on August 28, 2013. I recently just went to Africa to help with some humanitarian work in Ghana. I love helping others and traveling the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the gospel but while I was growing up, I was just going to church because that is what my parents told me to do. When I got to be a senior in high school, I began to hang out with a different group of friends and I began to make choices that contradicted the morals that I was raised to have. I became someone who not even my family wanted to hang out with. I went away to college and continued in my ways, not really thinking much of it. I came home on vacation one day and realized how truly unhappy I was and so when I went back up to school I began to go back to church and work with my bishop and I began to read my scriptures and pray, all the little things that I was raised to do. I began to see a change in how I treated others and my happiness. I continued to make little changes and my happiness just continued to grow. I began to have better relationships with my family and friends and even with strangers. I was more patient, kind, helpful, thoughtful, empathetic, and way less selfish. I realized that the gospel made me the happiest that I have ever been. Every night that I prayed, I felt so much peace and warmth. I had overwhelming feelings of the truthfulness of the gospel every time I went to church, read the scriptures, and prayed. It all just clicked and I knew it was right. I choose now to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know what a difference it can make in my life. I choose the gospel because I want to have true happiness and that is what the gospel can bring. I choose to be a member because I love my Savior and my Heavenly Father and I want to have their presence in my life at all times. This gospel brings happiness and I would never want to go back.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday and I am in a young single adult ward. I attend ward activities every week and hang out with friends from the ward every night. I am called as a visiting teacher and I go visit a couple girls from the ward once a month to ask if they need anything, befriend them, provide them with a spiritual quote or lesson, and provide them with delicious treats.
