Hi I'm Richard Wiscombe

I grew up in Utah. I was a pilot for the United States Air Force and American Airlines. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My grandparents and great-grandparents came from Sweden and England where they first learned about the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon. I have been involved in the aviation industry for my career. I was commissioned into the United States Air Force by completing ROTC at Utah State University. I flew the C-130 in the Air Force. I worked for Lockheed Corporation in Saudi Arabia for 4 years where I also flew the C-130. I finished my career working as a pilot for American Airlines. I am now retired. I own a small farm and enjoy the beauty of God's creations that surround me everyday. I have great joy in my seven children and their spouses and my 17 grandchildren. they have blessed my life. My wife and I have been blessed with this good family. We have great joy in our marriage.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know and have a testimony that God lives and loves everyone. He has given us guidance in the scriptures that were written by prophets and apostles. He continues to reveal his love to us through living prophets and apostles. I have come to know this by studying the words of these prophets and asking God in prayer if they are true. My prayers have been answered. Jesus taught, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." (John 7:17). I have stepped forward in faith following the teachings of Jesus Christ as He has taught them and revealed them to His prophets. I know He will continue to communicate to me through His prophets.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures everyday. I especially read from the four gospels and the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ. I try hard to apply the teachings of the scriptures and Christ's example in my own life. I enjoy visiting with my neighbors. We all have needs and oft times I receive needed help from my neighbors and I have been able to help them in their needs. I have participated in the Boy Scouts of America. Experiences with this organization has helped build my character and helped my boys develop into manhood. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given me many opportunities to serve. I have found that through a little effort in service I benefit more than those I serve. I truly know that every person is a child of a loving Heavenly Father.
