Hi I'm Kathryn Williams

I play the ukulele. I'm a convert and I can't dance. I am so very proud to be a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a daughter of divorced parents. I have one little brother and 5 step-siblings I hardly ever see. This fall I'm starting my freshman year at Washington University in St. Louis where I plan on double majoring in Mathematics and Education so that I can teach high school math. My best friend in the whole wide world is currently serving his mission in Tucson, AZ! It's because of him that I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the summer between high school and college. I love music, especially arrangements of old hymns. I love do anything with crafts or baking.

Why I am a Mormon

I've chosen to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ because of the Holy Spirit. Throughout my life I always felt like my religion wasn't all it could be. When introduced to the Church, I thought my friend was crazy but he showed me everything that I didn't even realize I was missing. Through lots of prayer and reading my scriptures I've gained a great testimony of the truthfulness of the Church. I love everything about the Church and know that it was the Church Jesus Christ established on the Earth, restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that as I strive to become more Christlike, I will enjoy great blessings including the greatest blessing: Eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

As a fresh convert I have no callings, but I actively participate all the church activities I can. I take my baptismal covenants seriously, and although I don't have a nametag with "Jesus Christ" on it in big letters, I have one on my heart so everyone I interact with can see my love for my Savior.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Kathryn Williams
We need a Savior because, as human beings, we are not perfect. Jesus Christ came to this Earth in order to die for each and every one of my and your sins. Heavenly Father wishes for every single one of His children to return to live with Him one day. Jesus Christ's Atonement bridges the gap between where we are, and where we should be. His sacrifice is essential for our return to Heaven. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Kathryn Williams
Absolutely! When I talk about my Scriptures, the Bible is included. The Bible has in it stories and testimonies that can be found nowhere else. Scripture is word that is written through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. The Bible absolutely qualifies as Holy Scripture and I love the Spirit that I feel when I read it. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Kathryn Williams
I was baptized very recently and thus can still remember the difference between life without and life with the companionship of the Holy Ghost. My baptism was wonderful and it sad for me to think that my ancestors didn't have that same blessing in their mortal life. By going to the temple and being baptized on their behalf, I offer them the same happiness that I feel. They have the ability to reject the work I do on their behalf, but I don't think any of them would make that decision. Being able to be baptized for my ancestors is an honor and I'm so happy to be able to give them that blessing. Show more Show less
