Hi I'm Charlie

I´m from Alaska, I'm the baby of 5, I´m serving a mission in Brazil, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First things first, my name is Charles Wellington Tappen, and yes you can say it with a British accent, everybody else does. I am currently serving a mission, but not where I had initially thought. I was called to the Brazil Belo Horizonte Mission, but apparently I can't handle that quite yet so I'm waiting for a visa in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. Loving it too, next time you eat some corn be sure to thank an Iowan! I grew up with three brothers and a sister and being the youngest, naturally I was always overlooked and picked on by the siblings. My Dad serves in the Army so we got to move around a little bit, but I did most of my growing up in a small town called Delta Junction, Alaska. There we had a small farm to keep us busy and I like to think I developed into a superb athlete and scholar as well, neither of which are probably true. I love my family. My favorite color is teal but that's prone to frequent change. Hawkeyes Cyclones. I speak Portuguese better than almost anybody I know, but that could change fast. I love Chipotle burritos. And I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say this again, but I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born to parents who had both already joined the church. I think everybody, whether born into the church, or a convert has to experience their own conversion at some point. I believe my personal conversion wasn't one great big moment, but more like a gradual growth of knowledge and testimony over time as I lived the principles taught in the church. I believe God gives men what they need. I've never felt like received some great manifestation, but I don't feel like I need one either. I love this gospel and know Jesus Christ is my Savior.

How I live my faith

I try my best to help others, I try to follow the example of Christ. Nobody's perfect and I'm definitely no exception, so I realize that and see others as Christ would see me. I'm currently serving a mission with the intent of helping others feel the great love that their Heavenly Father has for them.
