Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a Utah chemistry student with a mission call to serve in Korea! I love life and my beautiful family! I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi! I am part of a family of 11 kids, and I love my family so so much! They are my everything! For fun, I enjoy making jewelry, scrapbooking, sewing and basically any kind of crafting. I love being creative and sharing my talents with others. I love classical music and ballet. I am in college right now, and am studying Chemistry. I just got my mission call to Korea, and I couldn't be more excited about that wonderful opportunity!

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because it brings an incredible joy to my life. I have been a Mormon since I was 8 years old, and I grew up in Mormon family. One reason that I choose to be baptized is because of the example of my grandparents. They grew up in Denmark during World War II, and after experiencing the horrifying scenes of that time period, they were taught by the Mormon Missionaries. They found peace in the message of the restored gospel, and made great sacrifices to join the church, marry in one of God's holy temples, and move to America, where they could freely practice their new religion. The sacrifices they made for this church have always been impressive and touching to me, and I am so grateful for their example. Being a Mormon isn't just something that you choose once though. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is something that you choose every day. Each day I make an effort to be my best self. I pray and read my scriptures and look for ways to lift those around me. To me, being a member of this church is something that I get to choose every minute as I do the things that Christ would do. It makes me want to try harder and be better, and that is the way I love to live. I want to be more like Jesus Christ, because of the ultimate sacrifice of the atonement that he made for me. He loves me so much and it's hard to not live my religion when I remember Him.

How I live my faith

I love the opportunities for learning and service available to me through my church. Right now I am blessed to be able to teach a class to the women in our church about once a month. I love teaching, because it solidifies my understand and appreciation for the truths of the gospel, and helps those around me learn too. I also am blessed to be able to work with very young nursery age children. They have been such an example of Christ-like love to me, and I love the light that they radiate. Working with children has a wonderful way of reminding me that Heavenly Father loves me just as a parent would love their precious children, but more perfectly. It also helps remind me that we are here to learn and grow and make choices, and that Heavenly Father is always helping us to reach our full potential. I truly love my religion and am so grateful for the peace and light it brings into my life.
