Hi I'm Lauren Bowman

I grew up in Costa Rica. My family is the Brady Bunch. I'm serving a mission in Ecuador. I'm 19. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi. I'm Lauren Bowman. I've always been a smiley, positive person. About me, hmm, these are always hard. Usually I just tell the class I have webbed toes (which I do, ha). I lived in the beautiful country Costa Rica for 5 years, learned español, went through culture shock, loved the people, and saw how much of an impact the church can make worldwide. People who have literally nothing but the Gospel, actually have EVERYTHING. I'm ecstatic to say that I'm currently preparing to serve in Quito, Ecuador as a full time Sista preachin' the word! I'm stoked I get to use my Spanish, but even more excited to get back to my beloved Latin America to do nothing but talk about Christ. I love meeting new people, I'm happy, outgoing, and my momma says I'm extremely loud. I currently live in the bubble of SLC, UT. It's actually really cool to see how different life is here compared to McKinney, Texas, where I attended high school. I love spending time with fambam, eating, sleeping, working out, taking spontaneous adventures, making art, hiking, camping, boating, and being in the suuun! I'm the oldest of 7 kiddos. 3 blood sibs, Michael, Hanna, & Benji, and 3 rad step sibs, Jordan (currently serving in Chile), Logan, & Sydney. We're pretty much the Brady Bunch, it took some adjusting to, but we love each other. Huge fan of the fact that families can be together forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon. My family was very active growing up, & the gospel has always played a big role in our lives. I lost my dad my freshman year of high school. I honestly couldn't believe that he was really gone, there's no way that my dad could die, no, not my dad! If I didn't have the precious knowledge of Eternal Families I'd be nowhere. It brought me so much peace and comfort knowing we could be together again, & that he wasn't gone forever. We all have access to the AMAZING gift of the Atonement. Christ loves me & knows me. He knows EXACTLY how I felt, & how I feel. He sacrificed His life for ME to be clean & pure. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity we have to better ourselves through Christ. I learned that trials are actually blessings when you learn & grow from them. I became truly converted to this gospel, I felt like a brand new person, I felt that fire that converts always talk about. Light returned to my life. :) My favorite thing about being Mormon, is that there are so many imperfect people, like myself, who are all constantly striving to be more & more like Christ. This Gospel is about progress, change, & it is completely centered on Christ & His love.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday, not just on Sundays, although I do love me some Sundays. I'm always working to try a little harder to be a little better everyday of my life, it's definitely a constant effort and I am in no way perfect. I love the power of prayer, it's truly incredible that I can instantly communicate with my Father in Heaven who knows and loves me anytime! Even if my phone is dead (which, if you know me, you know it's usually on 3%) No but really, I cherish the relationship I have built with our Heavenly Father through prayer. I love love love service opportunities, whether it be clearing out someone's yard, building houses in Brazil, or volunteering at a local soup kitchen, I'm there. Music holds a special place in my heart. I love the Spirit it brings. You can expect to see one of the sweet old ladies in my ward handing me a pack of tissues anytime there's a musical number in church because I'm constantly bawling. I love any opportunity to sing and use my gift to touch others.
