Hi I'm Tyler

I'm from Raleigh, NC, the oldest of 5, a BYU Student, about to serve a 2 year mission in Guatemala, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Pocatello, Idaho. When I was 2, we moved across the country to Rockville, Maryland, where I became an avid DC sports fan. When I was 7, we moved south to Wake Forest, North Carolina. It is the place that I identify with most closely. I just completed my Freshman Year at BYU. While I was there, my family moved to Arizona, so now I am here preparing to serve a 2 year mission in the Guatemala Guatemala City East Mission! As I said earlier, I enjoy sports. I am a huge fan of the Redskins, Orioles, the University of Maryland, and BYU. I played Varsity soccer and a little golf in high school. Church b-ball is where it's at! I am a pretty easy-going guy. I love hanging out with my friends, and I love the Gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have lived the Gospel and the Holy Ghost has confirmed to me that it is true. I was born into the church and was raised well by my parents, but at a certain point, I had to decide for myself if I believed the teachings of the Church. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover, and when I finished, I asked God if it is true through prayer. I received my answer through the Holy Ghost, who testifies the truth in all things. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ, and that is why he has restored Christ's gospel to the earth, so that we can have the fullness of it, including the Book of Mormon. I know that we still have a prophet on the earth today, who is Thomas S. Monson. I know that he receives direct revelation from God to tell us what we need to do. MOST OF ALL, I know that Jesus Christ is my Creator, Savior, and Redeemer. Without him, nothing would matter at all. I know that he suffered for you and I, and that his atonement is a real power to wash away our sins. I know that this is his Gospel, and I am so grateful for it. Because of all this, I am a Mormon, and that is why I will be serving a 2 year mission. I want to help the people of Guatemala to know of these truths for themselves.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying to my Father in Heaven and studying my scriptures so I can know what Heavenly Father's will is for me. I have served in quorum presidencies throughout the Youth program and at BYU, where my main focus was to love my brethren of the church and to help them strengthen their testimonies. Now, I am a ward missionary, which means I focus on helping the full-time missionaries in my ward. I proclaim the gospel to people that live in the area of my church congregation. I also live my faith by home teaching, where I work on providing a message to families that will help strengthen the spirituality in their homes. I take my faith very seriously.
