Hi I'm Courtney

I'm a college grad, a teacher, a geek, and oh yeah- I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent college graduate with a teaching degree. I'm a lover of music, dinosaurs, and carbs. I love to read. A lot. I love travelling and seeing different places all around the world. I love animals and have one dog, Copper. Right now I'm trying to make the transition from undergrad to real world and then grad school!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church for just a little while now. I grew up in a Baptist home and my family was very involved in church. As I grew older and eventually left home for college, I went away from my upbringing and decided to see what God was all about and explore my own faith some. Through my own discoveries and adventures, I have made many mistakes, but God has always been there, whether I was paying attention to Him or not. God finally got my attention one day when I was locked out of my house- He sent to missionaries with the Book of Mormon to my door and the rest, as they say, is history. While I was investigating the church, of course many questions came up, but if you don't ask questions, you'll never get an answer. The men and women of the church were so helpful when it came to my inquires, never looking down on or thinking less of me. I have developed a strong testimony because of what I have learned and continue to learn through the church, the Book of Mormon, and the members who are there to help whenever they can.

How I live my faith

I live day to day the best I can. I am the only member of the Mormon church in my family, so it is important to me to be an example to the rest of my family of what Christ can do. It is with His strength and guidance that I have made it this far in life! Prayer is a very important aspect of my faith. Even when I'm driving to work in the morning, I find myself praying the whole way there. I attend church services every Sunday, knowing that God has something important He wants me to hear each week. I read my Scriptures and any other material I can get my hands on because reading is how I learn. There are so many wonderful resources out there for anyone wanting to learn about the church. In my case, I'm a new member, so I want to learn as much as I can! I know it seems really basic- pray, go to church, and read your scriptures, but those three things can add so much to a life.
