Hi I'm Sister Jones

I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as the Mormon church. I am serving in Portugal.

About Me

Compared to several others, I haven't been on this earth for very long so I don't have a long life story to give. For me, family is the most important thing that I have. I would be very lost with out my wonderful parents and my five younger siblings. Being an older sister is sometimes tough going and being the oldest sibling in the house I'm usually the "guinea pig". Another big part of my life is music. I've been singing since before I could talk and I have played piano since I was four years old. I love to fill my life with good music, books, friends, and I love to use my imagination. Most usually I use it for writing. While I don't consider myself to be very athletic, I have played a couple of different sports. Not because I'm really good at them but simply because I enjoy them. I played basketball in elementary school (if that really counts for anything) and I am looking forward to my second season of field hockey. Most likely as goalie and possibly on varsity. I love to try new things, which has led me to theater, select chorus, a few art classes, and some exotic (or just plain strange) types of food. Something that my friends find interesting about me is my height. I am 5'9" tall, which puts me several inches above must of the girls in my classes and at about eye level with most of the guys. For some reason some people find this to be amusing but not intimidating. Probably because I smile and laugh a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that Jesus the Christ died and was resurrected. I believe that after that resurrection, he visited the people in the ancient Americas. I believe that the Book of Mormon is a true history of the ancient inhabitants of the land that I live in and that it is full of knowledge and understanding that can help me better who I am and the world that I live in. I am a Mormon because my family is the most important thing that I have. My parents were sealed in the temple. Which means that I can live with my family for time and all eternity. I look forward to the day when I can also be sealed to my own family and have my children be sealed and know that all of my family members are mine for time and all eternity and cannot be separated by death.

How I live my faith

I am a member of the young women organization. This means that I am still in the youth group and have not had as many opportunities for callings as others have had. Though I have had a few and I'm sure that more will come. My mother is the ward organist, and in preparation for me having that calling at some point in the future I have started playing the postlude music after sacrament meeting the first hour of church. In the young women program, there is a booklet called "personal progress" which I have completed once and look forward to completing again. I practice my faith by following the standards that have been given by the prophets. I stand for my self, what I believe in, as well as standing for others who have the right to their own beliefs.
