Hi I'm Josh

I grew up all over the place. I am an 18 year old about to serve a mission in Neuquén Argentina. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mountain bum who enjoys snowboarding as much as possible, and I also enjoy to playing tennis. I enjoy to eat because I am at that stage in my life where it doesn't really matter what I eat! I really love to laugh and mess around with my family and friends because I believe life is to short not to lose those precious moments with the people that you love. My father was a lawyer and later a diplomat so I have moved around 18 times throughout my life but after the divorce of my parents my mom, brothers, and I settled in Oregon so that we could live close to my grandparents. My mom and dad later remarried to my step dad and step mom, and now I have four additional siblings. I am currently preparing to serve a mission in the Argentina Neuquén mission for the next two years, which I am extremely excited about. I am nervous but I know that the Lord will help me in my struggles and efforts to share His gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this church is the one true church on this planet. I grew up in this church and just like everybody else, at some point I had to search out for myself if this was really the right thing for me to be doing. My testimony wasn't one of those miraculous ones that comes instantaneously. I have had to continually strive to build upon it and to grow it to where I am today, and I am by no means done. I know that I have my own struggles to deal with, and I know that I may not always succeed in my endeavors to live the gospel fully, but I have an intense desire to do so. I know that my Savior suffered for me in the garden of Gethsemane, and that he later died for me on the cross on Calvary. I know that he loves me and that nothing I can do will separate His love from me. I know that every time that I stumble and fall, He will be right there waiting for me to ask for help. I know that families can be together forever and I am extremely grateful for this revelation. I don't know where I would be, or what I would be doing if it wasn't for this knowledge in my life. I am grateful for His hand in my life, and all of the wonderful blessings He has provided me.

How I live my faith

I was the president of both the deacons and teachers while I was growing up and I believe that this has really helped me to learn and have the opportunity to lead others. I know that I wasn't perfect, but I like to think that I did my best in the way that I helped the other boys my age to grow and to hopefully understand a little bit more about the gospel. Everybody hears about the Mormon missionaries knocking on peoples doors and sharing a message or two with random people, and while I have not had the opportunity to actually knock on doors I have greatly enjoyed my experiences with sharing my beliefs with people from school or work. They aren't always people that you know, but that shouldn't affect what you share with them because they all want the same thing, to know and understand more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. These same opportunities have prepared me to teach other people who are already members of my church, as I have been able to do on numerous occasions, as well as prepare me to serve a full time mission.
