Hi I'm Lizzy

I grew up in Washington state. I love the outdoors. I am studying civil engineering. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I absolutely love being outside, regardless of the weather. I love hiking, biking, running, and exploring. I played volleyball and basketball in high school and I love to play sports. I have six brothers and sisters and I love living in a large family-it is never boring. I enjoy competing in sprint triathlons. I also really love to laugh. I am majoring in civil engineering and I love building things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to two parents who were already members of the Church. I was raised going to Church and learning the doctrine that the Church teaches. I was baptized a member of the Church when I was eight. At that point I knew the Church was true because my parents knew it was true, and that was enough for me at that time. When I was ten, the Prophet asked the members of the Church to read the Book of Mormon. I decided to follow up on that and I read if for myself for the first time. When I finished reading the entire book, I prayed to know that it is God's word. My answer was that I had always known that it was God's word. Because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, I know that Joseph Smith was His Prophet. I also know that we still have a modern-day prophet on the earth today and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins and to make it possible for me to return to live with my Heavenly Father. Being a member of the Church is not easy, but living the Gospel brings me so much happiness. The things that I have learned by being a member of the Church have helped me get through some very difficult trials. I am grateful that Heavenly Father knows me and loves me and has allowed me to have the knowledge of the Gospel that I have.

How I live my faith

I attend Church every Sunday. It is wonderful to have a safe haven away from the cares of the world for a few hours every week. Going to Church makes the rest of the week bearable. Recently, I was the chorister for one of my Sunday school classes. Before that, I did not even know how to conduct music. But I was able to learn and I am grateful that being the chorister allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. Every Thursday, I play basketball with a group of women that I go to church with. My family and I designate one night a week, usually Monday, to spend time together. Because of the time I spend with my family and the people I attend Church with, I have developed close relationships with these people.
