Hi I'm Lance Ward

I grew up in the Foothills of North Carolina, I am currently a missionary in the Alpine-German Speaking Mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love growing up in the southern United States where faith and family is valued so strongly. There is no other place in the world quite like it. I recently completed my first year of college. I am a Health and Exercise Science Major and I aspire to be a Physical Therapist one day. I love playing sports, football in particular. It was always my dream to play college football. At the same time, I made a promise to myself when I was younger that I would serve my fellow brothers and sisters all across the world and serve a Full Time Mission. By the time my senior year in high school came around, I had various colleges and universities wanting me to play football for them, from Division 1 to Division 3. I informed all of the coaches that talked to me in the recruiting process of my aspirations to go on a 2 year mission trip for my church. Everyone of them gave me the same response, "If you change your mind, call us back." I was forced to make the choice of choosing to pursue one of my two dreams. I chose the dream that would be more beneficial and rewarding in the long run, to become a Missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I recently received my mission call to serve in the Alpine German Speaking Mission. I know that Heavenly Father will bless me beyond belief for my choice and that I will have experiences that I would not ever experience otherwise.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in the Church, I relied on my parents testimony through my childhood. As I got older, I realized that there is a point in life where I need to develop a testimony of the Church for myself. I thought about all of the teachings of the Church and found one aspect that has always had a special meaning to me. I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father has placed loving prophets on the Earth during the latter days. In biblical times, prophets guided and taught Heavenly Father's children. Are we not Heavenly Father's children today? Are we beyond the need of prophets in this modern era? I believe that we need a prophet today more than ever before to lead and guide the people of this dispensation through the hard times that are upon us. I know that Joseph Smith was the first prophet of this dispensation and that it was through him that the true Church of Jesus Christ was restored. I know that he was truly an inspired man. Someone wouldn't die for their beliefs like Joseph Smith did unless it was true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet today and that it is through inspiration from our Heavenly Father that he leads and guides us today. I have received affirmation to this many times by the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I leave to go to my mission on September 5th, 2013. I will be teaching people living in the Alpine region of Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria in the German language about the glorious Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I can't wait to share with others what is such a central part of my life and what brings me true happiness. Sure, it will be difficult to leave home and put my life on hold for two years, but I know that I will be eternally blessed for my willingness to serve the Lord.
