Hi I'm Cami Hinshaw

I was born in Normal, IL. I was raised in a small town. I love laughing, photography & the human mind. I'm a Mormon! :)

About Me

I was raised in a small farmland town of very few people. I am a baby convert! I was confirmed a member in December of 2012 and have been loving the freedom to think in this gospel. I am a girl who absolutely loves to laugh! It is the best medicine. I love typical girls things. I love shopping, and photography and running around outside. I love beings outdoors! The world that God created is just breathtaking! I'm also really interested in psychology and anthropology. Looking at those things through the gospel gives you a whole new perspective. I am currently going to a community college for two years, and transferring to BYU-Idaho in the fall of 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

My Sophomore year in high school, I went through some really traumatic events. I don't wish to make it a sob story, because my life truly is flowing with smiles now! But the will of two men was forced on me, and I was never the same. Those dark days pushed my life towards a bad boyfriend. A boyfriend who was below what my standards should have been and who manipulated me and changed me. Happy and hyper to angry, sad and quiet. Not like me at all. Bad day after bad day with him caused pain both physical and spiritual. I knew nothing of a gospel that would save me. After an entire year of darkness I mustered up strength to get out of there and tell my parents everything. They helped me and put me through therapy and it helped, but I became so dull. Not sad or angry, just content. My life needed something more and I didn't know it. I met another boy in my class; the happiest, friendliest and bubbliest kid! He made the world just so beautiful and made me feel the spirit just from talking to him. We became close, he became my boyfriend, and I told him everything. His answer: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (: Happy-hyper girl is back!

How I live my faith

When I became a member, I immediately started Personal Progress. I was so excited! I thought it was just the best idea. When I started the first value, I felt so motivated. I wanted to learn every scripture and every hymn and know all of the important dates and people. I finished Person Progress in six months, and now I use the standards and tools from that to apply my faith today. I live my faith by helping others emotionally for the most part. I try my very best to make sure people are not sad. My biggest wish is that everyone in the world was happy. I know they can reach that happiness through this gospel, but some just simply need a hug and a compliment. Those small things make such a big different. I know.
