Hi I'm Kourtney

Hi, I am a young women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and I love living the gospel. I LOVE music!

About Me

I am currently going into my junior year of high school. I have lived in the same place my whole life and I love it! I love living in a small town. I love singing, working with cows and horses, cosmetology, sewing, crocheting, baking, and pretty much anything involving music. To earn money for collage, I raise the orphaned calves that my grandpa gives to me. During the summer I spend most of my time watering, feeding, and washing them. So far I have had four cows and one steer. They are second only to my family and horse Teddy. I spend my free time, reading, riding, hanging out with friends or singing. I am in the Chamber Choir in high school, and have an amazing teacher. I am also learning to speak French. I am going into my third year of French. I love the French culture and language, its so beautiful! I am the second oldest of five children and have a loving mom and dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this Church since I was baptized when I was eight years old. I have always loved the gospel and the way it made me feel. In the beginning, I think I depended on my parents faith a little. But as a got older I started to ask myself why I was going to church. Was I going because I had faith and believed in the gospel? Or was I going because it was expected of me? Was it true? So I decided to find out. In the Book of Mormon a Prophet of God named Moroni said: "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I had heard this scripture a thousand times growing up so I found it, reread it, and decided to take Moroni up on is challenge. So I started to read the Book of Mormon, say my prayers with a sincere heart, and really listen to the things said at church. As I did these things I began to see my life change. As I read the interesting stories and learned about the courageous and faithful people that lived back then, I felt the holy spirit. When I got the the end I reread the scripture (Moroni 10:4-5). I got down on and my knees and asked God, my Father in Heaven if the things I had read in this book were true. I testify to you that after I prayed, and still today I feel the spirit of the lord telling me that this book is his book. And that this gospel is his gospel, and that it is true. Today I continue to live the gospel. I am not perfect, and like everyone else I have to repent and ask God for forgiveness. But as I do I can feel my Father in Heaven's love and guidance. I know this church in true. I am a Mormon. I know it. I live it. And I love it!

How I live my faith

I have been given the opportunity to be the president of the Beehives (young women ages 12-13) and the Miamaids (young women ages 14-15) and I loved it! I love being able to plan and create fun activities to benefit these girls! Being a teen myself I still have much to learn, but I also have much to teach. Having this calling has taught me to be kind, loving, caring, responsible, how to lead things like meetings and activities. Being an active member of this church has taught me to be more like my savior Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life so much. And so, when ever I get the chance I try to share it with others.
