Hi I'm Chase

I'm happy, I have purpose, I share it, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the oldest of three boys. I grew up in California where the mountains, big city, and beach were all within an arms reach. Growing up I enjoyed play sports, hanging out with friends, going to dances, and doing other goofy things that we could cook up. I served a mission in Spain and later taught Spanish in Utah for 3 years as I was finishing up college. I have only be married for a couple of years but still feel like a newly wed. I love to read, cook, dance, learn new things, and most of all to take my wife out on dates.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS family where the teachings of the gospel were taught and lived. I did however have a time where I was unsure of what to do and what path I should take. Most of my friends at the time were not Latter Day Saints so I could no longer rely on the testimonies of family and friends. I prayed asking to know if this was the church of Christ and if I should continue on this path. As I prayed I did not receive an answer immediately. Instead, it came a couple of days later after I had asked that same question multiple times. I was in a testimony meeting where others were sharing their testimonies of the gospel and that it was the church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth today. The spirit spoke to my heart and mind in that moment by feelings and thoughts that I received simultaneously. I felt for myself that all of it was true; that Joseph Smith restored the Church of Jesus Christ, that The Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Christ is my Savior and that he atoned for my sins, and that this is the path that God wanted me to be on. The story that I described above seemed to be more of brining to my remembrance experience vs. a discovery of new information experience. I have continued from that point on learning, studying in the scriptures, and sharing this with others around me. The gospel and its truths bring me and my family happiness and joy in this life.

How I live my faith

My wife and I are blessed to serve in the nursery where we watch the 18 months - 3 year old children in our church for 2 hours each Sunday. Christ tells us to watch and learn from the children. In the book of Mormon it reads, "...becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father (Mosiah 3:19)." It is great to serve those little children and learn from them. They are filled with light, purity, conviction, and curiosity that really amazes me. Outside of our sunday meetings we go with the local missionaries to help build or grow others faith in christ and his church.
