Hi I'm Tyler

I'm Canadian. I design things for work and for fun. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in a rural area in Alberta's north. It was great to be so close to nature, and to have so much freedom during my childhood. My parents taught me to work hard and to be honest in everything I do. I love spending time outdoors, although now that I live in a big city, it's harder to do. I enjoy hunting and fishing, painting and photography. I also like to bake (and most of all, eat the results).

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I had the privilege of attending a Catholic school, where I learned much about Christ and his teachings. One of my parents was a Mormon, and I was also able to attend LDS services occasionally. When I was still young I felt the Holy Spirit guide and direct me often. Through the peace that the Spirit brought, I knew that someday I would join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When I moved from my hometown to attend university, I sought out the church and was baptized a short time later. As a member of the church, I am greatly blessed in many ways. I continue to have my eyes opened to all the ways the Lord blesses me. The greatest blessings in my life are my family members, and the experiences we share. I know families are sacred, and that if we are true and faithful, we will inherit together all that our Heavenly Father has. Jesus Christ suffered and died for us and was resurrected so that we can repent of our sins and be cleansed, and be resurrected too. I am so grateful for Him.

How I live my faith

Throughout my life I've been helped, encouraged and uplifted by a lot of other people. Because of that, I feel that it's important for me to give back. Over the years I've tried my best to make a difference in the world. I haven't accomplished any massive feat, but I believe that one small bit at a time, I am helping others to be happier. Jesus Christ, and his service to all mankind, and me specifically, was a motivating factor in my decision to serve a mission for two years. I learned a lot in that time, and I hope I was able to touch a few lives along the way, and bring them closer to our Saviour. Since my time in the mission field I have continued to serve and help others, either directly through church callings, or more broadly as I engage in community organizations and events. As a designer, I feel we have a responsibility to do the best with what we've been given, to live sustainably, and make other people's lives better. Two areas that I'm particularly interested in are inclusive design, and design for aging.
