Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a future teacher. I'm an outdoors lover. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up in southeastern Washington state all my life. I am the oldest child of four kids while I am also surrounded by many cousins and other family members. Eventually, I left for school down in Provo, Utah at Brigham Young University. I am an elementary education major, I just love teaching! I love all of the friends I have made so far at BYU and enjoy my studies. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, running, reading, playing the piano, and spending time with friends and family. I believe that jokes and singing are some of the best things to help us through our life, along with the Gospel Of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this is the path that leads us to our Savior, our older brother, Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the church for all of my life, but I still needed to be converted myself. I have come to know that this church holds the truth. It didn't come to me overnight, it's been occurring my whole life. You have to LIVE it to KNOW it. There is no way that I can deny it after seeing the many blessings that surround me today. My trials help me to know that there is a God because He helps me through them and knows I can become a stronger person. I know that through faith and obedience, we can be happy and have peace through his spirit. Even though we mess up, I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can truly heal us from the pains of our mistakes. I love reading the Book of Mormon and reading over talks from our living Prophets and Apostles. Honestly, this Gospel just feels right and makes me a happier person.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being best person I can be while trying to help those around me. I live my faith by being a friend. It's our duty to live the values and beliefs we hold dear so that others may see our light. Recently I returned from serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was blessed to serve those within in the Maryland Baltimore Mission. On the East Cost I was called to preach the restored gospel, or good news, of Jesus Christ and his Atonement. As missionaries, we are to serve all of those around us and to keep in mind that everyone is a son or daughter of God. Today, I still live by those principles and try to strengthen my relationship with God.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jessica
Not all Mormons are required to serve missions, especially the sisters. However, I chose to serve a mission. We have been told in the scriptures that the gospel will roll forth and be unstoppable. Since our prophet Thomas S. Monson made the announcement of the age change for the missionaries, I have seen many strong sisters prepare and leave to serve as faithful missionaries. I was not required to serve a mission, but this gospel has brought me so much happiness and peace that I only want others to feel the same way I do. Show more Show less
