Hi I'm Skylar

I am an IT professional. I'm a programmer. I'm a gamer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up working with my family in a rural community. As such, I worked on a sizable plot of land, digging trenches, putting in fences, and other such tasks. We were a pretty close bunch, and still are. I have an affinity for technology, specifically computers. I am an IT professional, and am currently studying in that field. I program, go to the gym several times a week, and I game. Videogames have become a passion, albeit controlled, ever since I began rapidly progressing in computers. As I grew up, I had thought that I "had a testimony." In reality, I didn't. I never felt that the restored Gospel of Christ was true, or even necessary. I did feel that there was a God, but didn't feel anything beyond that. I told people that my testimony was "logical" because the little religious material I truly cared about just made sense to me. I left on a mission with this in mind, but quickly realized that I needed to serve God with all my being. And I realized that I needed to know if what I taught true. I've never been one for misleading people, so I decided as a missionary to really discover God's will. I searched with the intent of leaving the Church to seek the truth if God told me to do so. It was in that attitude that the Lord confirmed to me the truthfulness of what I was teaching. It was in that attitude that I gained my testimony of the Church and of Christ and of His love. And so I can testify: This is God's church. Jesus is the Christ. He is my redeemer, and He lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because God answered my prayer. I am a Mormon because God testified to me through His Holy Spirit that this is His Church. I am a Mormon because this is the only organization on earth that has God's authority, His priesthood. I am a Mormon because this is True.

How I live my faith

I serve in His church, and try to uplift those around me. I try to lend an ear to give the emotional support that I can give. I search for God's will in His scriptures. I strive to keep His commandments. I know that I make many mistakes, and I am far far from perfect. So I try to get better, and I try to get to know my Saviour as intimately as I can. I try to be like him.
