Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Southwestern Ontario. I love collecting sports cards. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At this time in my life I am in transition. I recently graduated from university with an honors double major in psychology and philosophy. I am starting a new career and trying to keep up with my wife and young children. I love spending time with my family reading books, going to the park, playing games and seeing them learn, laugh and play together. My hobbies are woodworking and collecting sports cards and memorabilia. I also enjoy making something unique and being creative.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the church helps us to become more like Christ. Having been born into the church, I regularly attended church meetings and grew up learning much of the doctrines and standards of the church. I don't ever remember doubting that God exists or that he loves me but as a youth I wanted to know if the LDS church was God's true church. I decided that I needed to read the Book of Mormon and learn more about the prophet Joseph Smith. As I began to read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart and real intent for the first time, I felt a swelling in my heart and I knew it was true. I soon finished the entire book and every time I read from its pages I still feel the Holy Spirit testify to me of its truthfulness. My testimony was additionally strengthened as I worked closely with the missionaries, learning from them and feeling of their love for me and their fellow man. I was able to further expand this Christ like charity as I dedicated two years of my life to serve as a missionary in Croatia. There I learned many great and important lessons and was truly humbled by the close relationship that I developed with my Savior. As I now have children of my own, I can more deeply understand the atonement and the plan that God has for me in my life. In this world some days can seem like an uphill battle against the adversary. Ungodliness and temptation are all around us but I know as we turn to Christ in our moments of weakness, He is always there to lift us up.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying everyday to be a better person. Family is central to my faith and I draw great strength from my strong relationships with them. Studying the scriptures, church history and modern revelation has been essential to strengthening and maintaining my testimony. Currently, I serve in the youth program of the church. In this position I organizing weekly social and service activities as well as teach spiritually uplifting and educational lessons each Sunday to 16-18 yr. old young men. They are full of energy, have a great spirit of unity and are eager to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are a great example to me and inspire me to be more like Christ.
