Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up in Florida and Washington state. I work as a dentist in the Air Force. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a proud father of two girls and a boy. I served a mission in Russia and later married a girl from Russia so we speak both English and Russian at home. With my family I enjoy hiking, biking and spending time outdoors. I love reading, especially history and I'm especially fond of David McCullough. My favorite fiction authors are Tolkien, Doyle, and Dickens.

Why I am a Mormon

I was about ten years old when I had a teacher in Church bring in a rock in a plastic bag for each student. He asked us to put it under our pillow and when we felt it there, it was to remind us to say a prayer before sleep. I started my own nightly prayer tradition at that point and it has made such a difference in my life. Through the power of prayer, I learned that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are holy scripture and truly written by prophets who spoke with and saw God. I have also learned that Joseph Smith is a true prophet. It is such a blessing to understand that prophets live on Earth today and provide guidance in a world that can be at times dark and confusing. It is also a blessing to know that the authority given to Peter, James and John has been restored to the Earth, and that through that authority, we can be sealed together as families and receive all the blessings the Lord has prepared for us.

How I live my faith

I try to always think of every person as a child of God and therefore my brother or sister. This helps motivate me to serve others. Serving can be as simple as a smile, a "thank you", or asking if somebody needs help. In my congregation I have the opportunity to visit with church members at home and find out about them and their needs. There is nothing like visiting somebody in their own home to help us really come to think of each other as good friends. One of the ways our church leaders have asked us to live our faith is by holding a weekly family night. During this time, we discuss the Savior, Jesus Christ, and His role in our lives. It helps us to feel His presence in our home.
