Hi I'm Joel

I lived in West Virginia for many years. I was a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband and father. I am retired. We have raised a big family and have many grandchildren. I have a doctor's degree in education. I speak Spanish. I have spent time in Argentina. I was raised on a ranch/farm with lots of siblings. We milked cows and raised crops and had horses. I wrote a long life history.

Why I am a Mormon

The restored gospel of Jesus Christ has given me a sure knowledge of why I am here on earth and what my potential is after this life. This comfort and direction has helped me and our family through the difficulties of life and has been a sure foundation and iron rod to cling onto in the various challenges, struggles, and temptations that have com in life. I know for absolute that this is the right path, that there is a God who loves me, and has a plan for me. Life isn't just a capricious experiment, nor is it just for pleasure seeking. The happiness I feel and the confidence I have is from trying the live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I feel reinforced daily in the life long conviction that I have had that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and the only ultimate path to happiness and peace. Anyone can find this path if they will pay the price to discover it, which comes by humble, heart felt prayer to God and a great desire to know the truth. I am so very blessed to have this sure knowledge and conviction. What joy and direction it has brought to me and my family.

How I live my faith

Living in a small town we are involved in the community a lot and pretty much know "everyone." Our children have been very involved in school sports and activities. I work with the youth in our church and have helped organize some of the big events for young men. I give lots of talks in the various congregations of our LDS church. I help supervise some of the week-day early morning scripture classes for our youth. A young man companion and I visit in the homes of our local members every month to see how they are doing, and do they need help with anything, and then we deliver an inspirational message to them.
