Hi I'm Esra

I originate from Germany. I love biology. I want to study medicine. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favourite subject in school was biology. I love it to learn about how our body works- I just love it. This is one of the reasons, why I want to be a surgeon. I also want to make use of my time by helping others living a better life. My parents always have been a good example to me. I'm one out of eight children. We all love football.

Why I am a Mormon

The first member of my family who joined the church was my grandfather as he was eleven years old. He was invited by a friend to come and see. He joined the church together with his mother that same year. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the church as I was eight years old. I knew about God, my feelings confirmed my faith that he was there. Because of this knowledge I always went to church. Looking back I can see how praying together as a family or studying the scriptures together helped us to be more unified. My real conversion, however, took place as I was about seventeen years old. Encouraged by my church leaders I decided by my self to start praying every night before I would go to bed and every morning right after I did arise. Hand in hand with this I began to study the scriptures every day for at least ten to fifteen minutes. With a couple of months passing by of constantly reading and praying - day by day - I began to realize the many blessings that came along with it. My testimony was strengthened. I noticed a huge difference in my preparation for the German Abitur (equivalent to the english A-levels): As I woke up on the morning of my written Biology exams I felt impressed to review and memorize the steps on how photosynthesize operates - step by step. I didn't know why but I followed the impression. I still remember standing at the train-station with this paper in my hand. One of my friend, who also had an exam at the same time asked me, why I am reviewing this paper. He said that trying to get anything into my head at this time would just take my concentration. In the exam I was asked to explain photosynthesis - step by step. God was on my side, without my continued act of faith I wouldn't have done so well in the exams. With this experience I knew God helps me the most when I need him the most. I know I only did receive this prompting because I was faithful in my reading, praying and church attendance.

How I live my faith

Currently I'm serving as a full time missionary for the church in England. I've been to various places such as Southend-on-sea, Norwich and Ashford in Kent. I'm doing this voluntary service for two years. As a missionary I invite people to come unto Christ by helping them to receive the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I teach people about our Lord and Saviour every day. I prepare myself every day in the morning with two hours of scripture study- one hour where I study the scriptures personally and another hour with my companion. From ten in the morning to nine in the evening my companion and I are out to talk to people.
