Hi I'm Laura Ostermiller

I am a fun loving, high energy person. I LOVE the great outdoors! I love being out in the community serving others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Idaho in a family of 6. I am the oldest of 4 girls, so basically a lot of drama! I grew up camping every summer in Yellowstone National Park so as a result I LOVE being outdoors. I love the wild rugged beauty of the mist in pine trees right after a rainstorm. I love to sing! It makes me so happy to serenade the world when I think no one is around. I love being around friends and family; it's probably one of my favorite activities to play pranks on them! I was in Color Guard my senior year of High School so I am not afraid to play with flags and riffles and sabers. One of my favorite foods is grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup....and let's not forget the chicken nuggets. I want to study Elementry Education or nursing. I believe that you learn so much better if you have a good example while you're young. I have incredibly curly hair that I have to tame every single day.... which I would count as an adventure. That is another thing I firmly believe in. I think that you shouldn't go one day without an adventure of some sort. Other wise, where does the fun of life come from??

Why I am a Mormon

I love this church so much because of the opportunity that I have to increase my faith in my Heavenly Father. There are so many miracles around us and the fact that we have the ability to talk to our Father in Heaven is one gift I will always be grateful for. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth in order to help us make it back to Heavenly Father and to be together forever.

How I live my faith

I am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Oregon, Salem Mission. I came out here on my mission because I have a testimony of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and what He did for me by completing the Atonement. I want to be able to share the joy I have as a result of my testimony! I know that our Heavenly Father loves every single one of us individually and He knows us better than we know ourselves because he is the father of our spirits. I know that by helping others come to the knowledge that our Heavenly Father loves us, I can help their lives become so much more joyful. I know that this church is true and that's why I am dedicating 18 months of my life to the service that our Lord needs to help all His children come back to him.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Laura Ostermiller
Members attending Sunday services will most likely be wearing their “Sunday best,” which may include suits, sport coats, and ties for the men and modest dresses or skirts for the women. Children also typically dress up for Sunday. Members of the Church celebrate Christmas and Easter, regarding these two events as the most spiritually significant days in history because of the birth, suffering, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Church members also celebrate the regional and national holidays of the countries where they live. Church members also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and similar events. Show more Show less
