Hi I'm Dave Scott

I converted to the church in 1980 at age 21. I was raised in Riverside California and went to college at BYU.

About Me

I was first introduced to the church, not by missionaries, but by the good example friends of mine set in high school. After high school I went to Jr College and played baseball, but still hadn't joined the church. I, however, continued to go to church as a non-member and enjoyed the friendship as well as the doctrine. I then went to BYU as a non-member with one of those friends in high school. After one semester, I asked my parents if I could join the church. (Even though, I was 21, I still wanted their approval because I respect them so much). They said I could because of how much they thought of my friends. There is nothing more powerful that a good example! After baptism, I went back to BYU. Later that next summer, I met my future wife. We now have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls). Our older boy went to Russia on his mission and our younger son is serving in Cambodia. Besides me and my wife being sealed in the temple, our three oldest children have also been sealed in the temple. I attribute all by happiness and successes in this life to the gospel. I know it is true and it means everything to me!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings true hapiness into my life. I have had several miracles that have happened to me since I joined the church, but suffice it to say I would be lost without the gospel. If you disregard all the prejudices and unthruths about the gospel and read the Book of Mormon with an open heart, you will come to the realization that this book is not fiction, but is true! I also love the Bible and learn from it each week as well. The Book of Mormon does not replace the Bible, but adds to it. You will realize this when you read it. I value my relationship with God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ and the gift of the Holy Ghost. If you develop a testimony of this devine work, you will see what I mean. This work is true and I am so happy that if I try and do my best, I will be able to live with my family for eternity! There is not a greater blessing than this!

How I live my faith

I have served in many different callings in the church, but my favorite callings have been with the youth. I have been very involved in the scouting program and I am proud to say the my two sons are Eagle Scouts. It makes you feel so much better when you serve others rather than yourself. It is natural to be somewhat selfish, but if you can overcome this temptation, the service you provide others will bring you more happiness than anything else you will do in this life.

Are Mormons Christians?

Dave Scott
Of course we are Christians. Are very name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mormon is a nickname because of the Book of Mormon, but Christ has always been the center-piece of our religion. Show more Show less
