Hi I'm Merlene

Hi! I'm a Canadian, a wife, mother of 4 sons, grandmother to 17 grandchildren and a Mormon!

About Me

We have moved 17 times in our 46 years of married life. I stayed home to raise our 4 sons and when the youngest went to Grade 1 I went to work, first at a Bank and then as a secretary for the Military. I am a trained singer and have sung at weddings, funerals, in choirs and choral groups and as a young girl sang on radio and TV in my hometown, which was noted for its musical excellence. My husband and I taught dance classes for 25 years to hundreds of people. My husband and I met at a Church dance, and have been dancing together ever since.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother joined the Church when I was 8 years old. I wasn't baptized until I was 16. I never had any doubt that the teachings were true. I prayed diligently to know for myself if the things I was being taught were true and I received that warm feeling that fills your entire body. I know that I have a Heavenly Father, that Jesus Christ is my older brother and that he suffered so that I could repent and return to my Heavenly Father's presence. I have read the Book of Mormon many times and it confirms to me that this is the Savior's organization restored in these latter days. I am so happy in the life I have chosen. My life centers around our family and the joy of knowing we can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I love to teach, especially in our Church where we are given many opportunities to serve. I have taught children in Sunday School. I taught early morning Seminary Classes to 14-17 year olds for 4 years. I now serve as the leader of our Ward's Women's organization. I was the Choir Director in our Ward for 9 years and created a Ward Bulletin for 9 years and have sung in the Choir for 35 years.
