Hi I'm Elder Travis Wright

I am a missionary in Leeds, England, Im 6' 4", I am a Plumber, I love music, ballroom dancing and I'm a mormon

About Me

I am an Eagle scout. I was born into a family of 8 children... i am number 5. My dad, 3 older brothers and a sister have all served missions. We have covered; Germany, Arizona, Singapore, Hawaii, Texas. I play the Piano, Trumpet and the Drums mainly, but if it has a mouthpiece or you hit it with drum sticks/ or spoons, I can play it. I also like to dance (ballroom). My Father has been terminally ill with cancer since I was about 8 years old. I want to deep fry a cube of butter, stick it in a waffle, coat it in chocolate and bacon, then deep fry it again, and eat it in one sitting, as a short term goal. I have been raised in the church and have been given the opportunity to participate in many faith promoting activities while I have grown up.

Why I am a Mormon

Most important is that I have gone to my Heavenly Father with a question of what I need to do. He did not answer me in a big cloud or in a vision, but he taught me line upon line and precept upon precept, through my whole life. As I reflect on my youth, I realize I have always wanted to do what is right. (Not to sound self rightious or prideful) I have always had a desire to do good. I am a Mormon because I know for a fact that the Lord blesses us through his priesthood. I have felt the Atonement in my life and it has opened my eyes to the fact of His love for us. God has told me, through the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is his word, translated by his prophet, Joseph Smith. "No evil man could have written the Book of Mormon, and no good man would have, unless he was commanded by God to do so." This I know to be true. Families can be together for all eternity if they work together to keep the commandments of God and help keep each other holding to the "iron rod". Knowing this has helped me overcome total sorrow for my dad and I feel happy that he is able to look at death with a smile. He and my mother have taught me well and I REALLY want to be with them and all seven of my siblings for all eternity. Knowing this I have chosen to come to England to tell everyone I see, that they can know it as well. Why would anyone not want it?

How I live my faith

I live close to the laws of nature meaning "early to bed, early to rise". I have faith that we can receive personal revelation if we will hearken to the councils of the Holy Spirit and obey Gods commandments to the best of our ability. I attend the temple as often as possible and love being able to be baptized for those who did not have the chance in this life. I am currently a full time ambasador of the Lord serving as a missionary in the England Leeds mission. I have loved every minute of it. I study the scriptures to gain a better knowledge of truth and light. I love everyone and give all people a chance to show me who they are by their works, so I don't judge too quickly.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Elder Travis Wright
No we do not worship Joseph Smith, anyone who says we do does not understand exactly what he did for the world. We revere him for his courage and for even laying his life down for his faith and our faith. This is not worship. "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me." This is one of the many commandments given to us. There is one God and one God only. We worship him and love him. Show more Show less
