Hi I'm Christopher Scott

I was raised in southern California near Disneyland. I love my family, the Lord, school, basketball, and surfing.

About Me

I am a pretty outgoing individual, I like meeting new people and hearing their stories. I love to learn and always enjoy a good challenge. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University studying economics. Prior to coming to school I used to be a firefighter. Firefighting as well as my church service allowed me to serve others. I believe that some of the richest lessons to be learned in life are in serving our fellow men. For fun I like to surf, play basketball, or anything outdoors. I also like to read a lot.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. It empowers me to be my best self. I have this huge support group anywhere I go in the world, whether it is down the road to a different ward (congregation) than I normally attend or to one in half way around the world. The people are all welcoming and warm. I have read the Book of Mormon and come to know for myself that it is true. It testifies of Christ. As I have read that book I have come to know that my redeemer lives and loves us more than we can ever imagine. Living the principles taught in our scriptures and by our Church leaders fulfills me and makes me happy. It just feels good. When I have had trials and needed the aid of my Father in heaven he has answered my prayers. I have been comforted, strengthened, and encouraged by him. I know that Heavenly father is my best friend. He is yours too. We just need to talk to him. He is listening. I invite you to put this to the test.

How I live my faith

I have found that one of the most important ways in which I live my faith is in how I start out my day. When I wake up I study my scriptures and say my prayers. I express my gratitude to my Heavenly Father for the blessings he has given me. I have recently began reading my scriptures differently than I have in the past. Instead of reading them chapter after chapter as you would any other book, I have started praying before I start to read, then as I read I will go over the verses and pray about the principles being taught and what they mean to me. I have felt Heavenly Fathers presence. It is as though he is there reading that sacred book with me. It is such a wonderful feeling. I encourage you all to try this. I believe he is there and anxious to help us. Some of the richest experiences of my life have been in the service of my fellow men. I believe in service. I am a home teacher. This means that myself and another person go visit a few people every once in a while and check in on them, see if they need anything and are feeling cared for. How neat is that? I think it is amazing that everyone in the Church is assigned someone to look after them and make them feel wanted and cared for. Isn't that what we are all looking for, to feel connected and heard.
