Hi I'm Becca McCarthy

I'm from Idaho, an Alaskan nanny, a lover of the outdoors. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Hawaii and lived there til I was 9 and then my family decided to move to Idaho where we could be close to my grandma. So now i have lived in Idaho for the past 9 years and loved it because we live in a small town. I enrolled at BYU-Idaho and dropped out after a few days because of some things and then went to school at Bridgerland Applied Technology in Logan, Utah. I finished up there in just 3 months studying graphic design. Now I am going back and forth from Talkeetna to Anchorage Alaska this summer where I am a nanny for a Presbyterian family. They are great! I also just received my mission call last Friday and I have been called to serve in the Texas Lubbock Mission. I report November 20th and I am STOKED!

Why I am a Mormon

The summer between my Jr and Senior year of high school I kinda had a time where I really thought about the church and why I was in it. I had a friend that constantly questioned everything the church did even though she was also mormon. She made me think about parts of the church that i had never even thought twice about since i was born into the church. I think she choose to think negatively about the "problems" that she brought up and i saw that really hurting her testimony because she soon decided to push her limits and make the wrong choices and even though she didn't do anything way crazy, I started not wanting to hang out with her anymore. We had a really hard falling out and got pretty angry with one another over dumb things but i am grateful that i was able to be her friend and for all the things she taught me without her even knowing it. Hidden Blessings are everywhere.

How I live my faith

So being a nanny has been a challenge for me because it has been my first time out on my own and away from everybody that I know and being surrounded by strangers and new places. Since the family I am working for is Presbyterian I have to go to church all by myself now, which is totally new. I usually had a friend to go with or my family. Even though this has been hard for me I think it has made my testimony grow a lot. I don't have anyone here to make sure I go to church, I have to choose to get up and go. This has made me really enjoy church and really listen to the lessons and talks.
