Hi I'm Melissa

I live in a family of four and have a dog but most of all I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I graduated from high school and went to college for a year and now going on a mission! That is a lot of change in just a little over a year. I have had amazing friends as examples in my life to help me become who I am. It is true, God puts each person in your life for a reason. I have played a lot of different sports. I played basketball for the longest, softball, soccer, boys lacrosse, and tackle football. I love to play sports and wish I could have tried to play more sports competitively. I love friends. If anything I am with a friend. I make friends with everyone. I even hang out with kids that are younger than me and adults that are married and have kids. I consider my close friends family to me. The main reason why I am ale to make friends with everyone is because of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are placed in wards that covers a certain geographic region and go to church at a certain time and place. We call them ward families. We receive temporary callings to serve the people in the ward by teaching Sunday school and other programs in the church. By this we learn to serve others and make friends. I am truly grateful for the ward I am in now because I really consider every there as a friend and all as my family. I know when I move that I am placed in a new ward that the church is still the same where ever I go.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I did what I was taught in church and by my parents. I naturally believed the things I was being taught. During high school I was just going through the motions of what Mormons do: go to church and be in seminary. Well at the time I wasn't reading the scriptures or praying. In seminary our teacher passes down a paper to each student in the class. It was three yes or no questions. 1. Did you read your scriptures yesterday? 2. Did you pray last night? 3. Will you do this today? i looked over at my friend and she circled all of them. I felt bad because I wasn't. I knew it was the right thing for me to do those two things so I circle yes to question three. I started to read The Book Of Mormon for the first time from front to back by myself. Once I finished it I prayed to the Lord if these things written in The Book of Mormon are true. I felt deep down in myself and felt this happiness inside me. That was the Holy Ghost testifying that they are true. I knew they were true all my life but with that I can now testify with no doubt that Christ lives and gave us The Book of Mormon at this time so we can live with Him again. That is why I am a Mormon and live the teachings taught in the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the commandments that God has given us. I also live by what the Lord tells us through our living prophet Thomas S. Monson. I know the things of the church is true because I have tried and tested them so I can have my own testimony about them. I continually grow my faith by praying to my Heavenly Father. He listens to us and loves us. I have grown up knowing this and I still know it's true. I have great faith in God and because of that I am able to learn more about Him. I know what true happiness feels like because I have gotten closer to Him. I live my life in happiness and it is the happiness that God has given me. It is my way of showing Him that I am grateful for the things He has given me. He has given me a life and a purpose to my life.
