Hi I'm Joseph Clay

I care about people, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I say that, but in all reality I am serving for my Father in Heaven and for His Son Jesus Christ. Honestly I am a pretty average guy, I went to High School, got decent grades, hung out with my friends, the real difference I guess you could say is that I have been blessed enough to have the Gospel in my life. Because of the blessing of the Gospel I have been given the Priesthood, which can be traced back to Christ himself, and as a holder of the Priesthood one of my duties is to go out and share this message with the world. It is an incredibly exciting experience, we live in an incredibly exciting time. We live in the fullness of times, meaning that through the Priesthood power, which is from Christ and our Father in Heaven, we can be sealed as families and, if we live worthy of it, obtain all that our Father in Heaven desires to give us! How awesome is that!

Why I am a Mormon

Because of the peace and joy it brings into my life. If the Gospel is something that you are living and just slogging through, then chances are you are doing something wrong. I know that this Gospel isn't something that will just pay off in the long run, although it will, but it also pays off everyday, as we live our lives and feel the comfort and peace and joy that comes from keeping covenants and having the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. If I am doing my best, my Father blesses me, it is as simple as that, and I think that this life is too hard to not have the blessings from Him, and to not know that we can one day live with Him again!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing what it tells us to do in Ephesians, which is put on the Armor of God. I strive to pray and read my scriptures everyday so that I will have Heavenly protection from all the evil around me. And then I try to serve others, and I am trying to continue to be a better disciple of Christ, by doing what He would have me do.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Joseph Clay
Baptism has and forever will being an ordinance necessary for salvation. If we observe and strive to follow Christ then we quickly see that He taught that Baptism is essential. In John 3:5 He taught of the necessity to be reborn, to begin a new life in Christ. In the Epistle to the Romans, Paul reiterated this great truth and proved to us that immersion is the only way to be baptized, it is in Chapter 6 verse 4 that he says "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Now once we understand and accept the truth, that baptism is essential, we understand that all must be baptized and we therefore wish to extend it to those who have passed. The Church uses the correct and true doctrine of Baptism of the Dead to extend those blessing to others, just as the saints in the ancient Church did (1 Corinthians 15:29). Of course those who the Ordinance is done for still can choose whether or not to accept it, just as we can choose whether or not to accept Christ's proxy suffering and intervening for our sins.
