Hi I'm Robert

I come from Reno, and grew up in New Jersey. I enjoy schooling, hiking, and camping. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My absolute favorite thing to do is to hike, wherever it may be. Backpacking trips, day trips up mountains practically in my backyard, or even getting to a friend's house on the other side of town, it's all fun for me. I'm just a high school graduate looking forward to going to college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I don't have any chosen major as of yet, but I plan to go into math or science and then into whatever career that entails. As long as I'm working, I'm happy. My past jobs include landscaping, being an extra hand on a nearby farm, and driving the tractor for hayrides at the local pumpkin patch. For now, I'm just taking life one step at a time, and loving every second of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the Mormon church, but I have only stayed a member because it has satisfied every single expectation that one could have for a religion. It has changed my life in a way that I see as very beneficial, and is still continuing to benefit me. If I could sum up the whole church in one word, it would be 'continuous.' Not a single person on this earth right now is perfect, and the same goes for the Mormon church. Everyone is on different levels of spirituality and righteousness, and the Mormon church offers something for all, no matter age, gender, or race. There will never be a point where I will decide I have grown enough, or that I have done enough. Although I am happy and content with what the church has done for me, I will always hunger for growth, and I am completely convinced that this church will satisfy that need. I fully believe that this church is the church of Jesus Christ established on this earth. I know it, and I know it because I have experienced it in full. I can offer no witness that I could ever hope to convert or convince anyone with, only an invitation to come and try, backed with all the surety that my soul can offer. This church has done miracles for me, and I know that it will do miracles for anyone that decides to come and see for themselves.

How I live my faith

Me living my faith is a lifestyle more than anything. I have a leadership calling in my youth group for the boys my age, and this became a part of me. I befriended the people at school, and was always looking for ways to help them. When we all come to church together, I do the exact same thing. I try to plan activities that would bring all of us together, uniting our very diverse interests and hobbies. If I can help everyone to feel welcome at home, then I'd say it's a job well done. My father also has a leadership responsibility in the church, and I often go with him to visit other people. I also go out with another member of my church often to go visit particular families and help strengthen them in the faith. These experiences are how I live my faith. The people I have the responsibility, or rather, the opportunity to help become my friends. My faith isn't something I live at church as much as a way I live my life, being cheerful, helpful, and very service-oriented. These duties to help others extend to all, as well. Although I spend much time with others of my faith, I still do all I can to treat all others with the same love and compassion I show to my closest friends. Living my faith and living my life are truly one and the same.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is simply another guideline to live by that will bring blessings, just like any other commandment. It gives advice on healthy lifestyles as well as warnings against consuming several substances, such as tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs. If we live by these guidelines, we are promised by God that we will grow spiritually and physically healthier. It's been a great blessing to me as I've been able to stay free from addiction and lead an energized life. Show more Show less
