Hi I'm Stephen

I grew up in Iowa City. I'm adopted into a wonderful family. I love sports and being with people and being Mormon.

About Me

I was adopted at birth by two wonderful parents and sealed to them for eternity in the LDS temple in Salt Lake City, UT. I know that God's plan for me is being fulfilled and that He carefully placed me in the place that I would need to experience the most growth and be the happiest. I have never doubted the power of the promises made to me that I can be with my family forever, and I know that is what I want. I have a sister who is also adopted and I know it is part of God's plan for us to be siblings. I love sports, music, and learning. I served a two year full time mission to Uruguay and deepened my understanding of our Heavenly Father's love and concern for us. I am now in college pursuing a degree in business management.

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a member of the Mormon Church because I have received personal witnesses from my Heavenly Father that it is His church. As I grew up in Iowa City my beliefs were frequently challenged and often ridiculed by those who didn't understand my beliefs. I stood by what I believed in action as best I could, but found myself often failing to make vocal what I believed to be true through personal experience. Perhaps it was that I lacked the experience. I decided I wanted that to change when I went to college. I studied the scriptures, I prayed, and I fasted to feel in my heart and know in my mind that what I had spent my adolescence defending to my peers. Over continuous study and many, many, questions, I came to feel that all that I had read and studied was true. That witness has been strengthened again and again over time and continuous effort to know more about the Plan of Salvation. It is wonderful and inspiring, and because Christ lives and loves me, I have motivation to do His will and be better ever single day.

How I live my faith

My favorite way to live my faith is by seeking opportunities to serve others. I believe that service is the key to unlocking our full personal potential to become what God desires us to be. Whether it is helping with an organized project or making consistent visits to members of the congregation, I seek to be an example to them and to lighten their burdens, both spiritual and physical. I always find that I learn more as I serve and teach others than I would if I were to focus on myself. I strive to always be positive and to put smiles on other people's faces whenever possible. I want them to feel as good about themselves as their Heavenly Father feels about them.
