Hi I'm Matt

I have titanium in my face. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a place with very few members of the church. I had amazing friends some of which were LDS, some not. Many of my friends got involved in drugs, alcohol, and premarital sex. I pray for them to this day. I pray that I may have an opportunity to help them understand PEACE I continue to learn through the Gospel of Christ. I left that town and played rugby for BYU. While playing I broke my face. The bones around my right eye were fractured. An amazing doctor fixed my face using titanium plates. During the time my face was healing I learned a lot about spiritual healing. I became so much more involved in helping people around me come unto Christ. I hoped to serve a mission in some exotic area of the world. I was called to serve in the Utah Ogden Mission. =) Haha I thought it was a mistake. I testify God knows how to teach His children. He knows them and knows where they are and when they will be there. I served in that mission for two years. I cannot describe it. I still go and visit and spend time with the people I taught in that area of the world. I love them so much. The first six months after the mission were some of the hardest six months I have ever lived in my life. I know that the Savior saved me through that time in my life. He cares about me. I study at BYU now. I am working towards nursing school. I am an EMT and CNA. I love helping other people. I love doing for them what they cannot do for themselves. I love teaching people, it teaches me. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a member of this church not because I was baptized at a young age and my name has been recorded in the church records ever since. No, I am a member of this church in particular because...... I know in my heart that Jesus is the Christ. And I have received a witness by the power of God that He is the leader of this church. That He has restored His Gospel to the earth and it is all in this church. I know that. No doubts. I have asked God and He has told me in my mind and heart that this is the truth, and it is true for the whole world. That being said I want to make it clear that there is a God. He is the Father of your spirit. And He is a good father, He LOVES you. One of His sons, Jesus, suffered for all of your mistakes and imperfections. And He suffered for all of the horrible things that have happened to you. I have no doubt about that. He knows you and loves you and understands you perfectly. And in order to help you He has a church on the earth with authority from God to cleanse and heal us of all of those negative things. This is that church. I invite everyone to come unto Christ, repent of all the negative things you can control, and then take the rest to Him and be baptized. He will take care of you. He will help you lift up those burdens and shake them off. As you are confirmed a member of His church He will be able to fill you with His Spirit, His love, and He will guide you to become like Him and to be happy like He is. Truly Happy. =) I testify of that, as a servant of God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Christ ministered to the one. He left the ninety and nine to find the one. I know that He will give us power and inspiration to be His hands in finding the one and helping them come back to the fold. Even when they do not want to come back. He can teach us to want to come back. He can plant the seeds in our heart and help them grow into trees of life. I strive to be His hands in that way. That is all. I am not really an influential person. I don't think I am very charismatic or anything. But I trust that Heavenly Father needs people here on earth to Feed His Sheep. And I trust He will feed me as I feed them. I am a door greeter on Sunday. So I stand at the door of the church and say hi to everyone who comes into the room. I think that I have an opportunity to be like Christ in that situation. "Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep...I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture...I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." (John 10:7-11) I know that if we serve in whatever capacity we have been called; whether it be a greeter at the door or the President of the Church, as a missionary on a remote island or in Ogden Utah. I know that if we are willing to serve, He will be able to do amazing things through us. He will save His children through us. He will part the Red Sea through us and cause the blind to see and the lame to walk. Be willing, let go of your selfish desires, and trust the Lord. I know that He lives. I have served in many capacities in the church and in other organizations. The thing I have enjoyed the most is the service gone unnoticed.

What is faith?

Matt
I feel that faith is something which is not seen. But this thing we cannot see is actually real and true. All people have faith. When you walk into a room and it is dark, what do you do? You look for a light switch, right? Why do you look for the light switch? It is just a little piece of plastic stuck to the wall...what makes you think that little piece of plastic will cause the room to light up so you can see? How do you know that little switch will make the light come on? You don't. But you believe it will, and you are willing to try it! You are willing to feel around in the dark for it. You are willing to flip the switch, even if you can't see it. To anyone who has never used electricity or a light switch this little plastic piece seems like magic! Some how that plastic switch caused a light to come on. You cannot see electricity moving from the switch to the light bulb. You can't even see the wires. But you trust it. You put your trust in it and you flip the switch. This is FAITH. I testify that acting on faith causes the lights to turn on. I testify that putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, who we cannot see (but we can feel) will lead us from darkness into light. I know He lives, I have invested my faith in Him and He has caused light to burn inside of me when I could not see through the darkness. If you let go of your pride and fear by trusting Jesus Christ; you will feel His love in your heart, and you will know Him better as you see Him in the light. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Matt
Faith is beautiful because it grows. Everyone has grown faith in something. Whether it is in soap to clean their hands, their car to drive, or any number of things. Faith is how we accomplish things. If you believe that your car is going to work right today when you drive it to the store, then you will get in the car and drive it there. If you don't have faith or believe in your car, then you might not make it to the store. FAITH in Jesus Christ is so important because He is like the vehicle that will help us get to our Father in Heaven, to be spiritually fed, and to find greater peace and joy. In order to develop faith in your car, you must first have a DESIRE: something motivating you. Like the desire to go to the store many miles away. This desire will motivate you to DO something! Like to learn about the car, or to get in the car with someone else driving, or to drive the car yourself. As you do so, as you actually try it and act on that desire; you are EXERCISING FAITH. And exercise is what makes things stronger. The same thing happens when we realize that Jesus Christ could possibly help us. We then have a desire, however small, to find out if He really can help us. So we ACT on that desire, by praying and asking God about Jesus Christ, by learning about Jesus in the scriptures and at church. By living the commandments He has given us to live. By repenting! I am a living example that this is true. My faith has grown and developed. I have faith in Christ =) Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Matt
I know that there is a Father in Heaven, and every single person who ever lives on this earth IS HIS CHILD. I know that because I have talked with Him about it and He has communicated back to me. I know He loves everyone. I know that is hard to understand or believe, but it is hard to UNDERSTAND and BELIEVE aerodynamics, or medicine, or a person when they tell you they love you. And it is also so worth it to fly in an airplane, to be cured by medicine, and to love and be loved. How can we come to know Him? Well...how have you come to know your close friends? Or how have you come to know your pet or your profession or your self? You have spent time with them. You have studied them in various ways. You have also trusted them. You cannot really come to know your Father in Heaven until you trust Him at least a little bit. And then you will come to know Him a little bit. He has taught us to show that trust by reading and studying about Him in the scriptures. By talking to Him in prayer. By doing our very best to learn His commandments and to keep them. I have come to know Him and that He loves me by realizing the things I am doing wrong in my life, and then changing/repenting, and asking Him to forgive me. I have felt His love even though I am so flawed. I have come to know Him by being baptized by His priesthood authority. I come to know Him as I serve His children. As we imitate our Father we will become like Him. And as we become like Him, I testify, we will know Him. Show more Show less
