Hi I'm Chad Nephi Olsen

I grew up in Boise Idaho. I'm a bagpiper. I love camping and being in the outdoors. I'm a wrestler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm Chad, One thing that you should know about me, is that I grew up being home-schooled. This was a huge blessing in my life and even though I didn't go to public school, I still participated in lots of activities. For example, I'm a huge outdoor person. I love biking, camping, hiking... pretty much anything that has to do with being in the outdoors. I'm also a musician and have been playing the bagpipes since I was 10. I also participated in sports (cross country and wrestling) at the local high school and attended a nearby seminary. Other things you should know about me, are that I come from a family of nine (and I'm the oldest) and that my family, while we've had our problems and challenges, we are super close with one another.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so I've been blessed with the gospel my entire life. That being said, I have gained my own testimony and have been converted to the Church. I remember the night that I knew for myself. It was about 4 years ago, when I was roughly 15, I had finished reading the Book of Mormon and had found Moroni's promise at the end (Moroni 10:4-5). So I decided to find out for myself. I knelt down and earnestly asked my Father in Heaven, if the Book of Mormon was true. Up to that time and since then, I have never had a moment like that in my life. In that moment, I had, as it were, a fire burning within me. In that moment, any and every doubt that I had was gone and I knew that the Book of Mormon was true, that the teachings in it came from and bring us closer to Christ. I knew that it was a real account of an ancient people and that those records were translated by the gift and power of God, through Joseph Smith Jr. Since then, I have dedicated my life and my actions to living the gospel to the fullest. So whenever I've had sore trials or have been confused about any doctrine, my faith has not wavered... for I am able to lean on my testimony of the Book of Mormon. That is why I am a Mormon! I know the Book of Mormon is true and that living the gospel of Christ has undeniably brought happiness, peace, and comfort in my life. These things I testify are true, and do so, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each and everyday. I live it through my example of being an older brother. I've lived by serving and helping my neighbors and friends. I've lived it through being a home teacher, a Teacher's Quorum President, Seminary Class Leader, and 1st Assistant to the Bishop. I've lived it through being an Eagle Scout and giving service to others. In each way I've spent my time, I've tried to live my faith. That means that when my friends on the wrestling team tried to get me to try tobacco, I said "No". It means that when my non-member friends ask me questions, I strive to answer them to the best of my abilities. It means that when I applied for a job at a local store and I was told I would have to work on Sunday to get the job, I turned it down. It means that I study the scriptures and pray daily, so that I can come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. It means that I remember to keep the Light of Christ in my life daily.
