Hi I'm Taylor

I'm a climber, a cyclist, an outdoor enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

As I said, I'm an outdoor enthusiast. I love everything outside such as climbing, mountaineering, swimming, backpacking, photography, and mountain biking. I'm serving a full time mission in Santos, Brazil helping others come unto Christ and understand his gospel. I love the people here and the ways I have been able to help others while also seeing myself grow. I have come to understand who I really am. When I return from Brazil I will continue my studies of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I was born and raised in Moscow, Idaho. My family is one of the most important things to me and I´m happy to have been born in a family with 4 brothers and sisters. And that´s basically me!

Why I am a Mormon

If I had to give one reason of why I'm a mormon, it would be because I know it's true. There is one God. He is a God of order. He would not cause so much confusion in our world with all of the different religions. His church is one. Now the hard part is finding that church now isn´t it? Well, when I started searching to know if this church was true I was not sure, but as I started to pray and ask my Heavenly Father what was true I started to see a light. Not a literal light, but something that just started to make sense in my life. When I prayed and asked if it was true I felt peace. When I had a doubt and thought that maybe it wasn't all true I felt confused and frustrated. Although this testimony did not come all at once, it came. Little by little, we just need to pay attention. Now the sun is risen for me. I can see clearly what at first I could hard make out in the darkness. I know that my Father in Heaven lives and loves me. I know he wants me to be happy and because of that he gives us commandments. I know that Christ gave his life for me and that he can help me through any and everything I might be going through. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the kingdom of God here on the earth, and because of that, I'm a mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by the way I try to treat others in my life. I try to show kindness to everyone. Christ said that the first great commandment was to love God above all else and the second was like unto it, love your neighbor as yourself. If we can follow these commandments, we will be following all of the others because we would never want to do anything that would disappoint our Heavenly Father nor harm one of our fellow men. Although we are not perfect, we can be perfect at trying. It is a process and we just need to do a little bit better today than we did yesterday. Line by line, precept upon precept learning the gospel of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by trying today to be a little bit better than yesterday.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is normal. People think that we are a strange people, and while this may be true we are not so much different from everyone else. We work, we study, we play, we go to church, we serve in the community, we help others. The difference in our lives is that we have the gospel of Jesus Christ to guide us and help us find our way through these sometimes dark and difficult paths we call life. We can find the light that Christ has put there to guide us through the promises we make with him. We have the hope of eternal life with our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
