Hi I'm Alice

I grew up in a small town in Wyoming. I am a happily married mother of five children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mother of five children. Our first child, a son, died of leukemia when he was 21 months old. Although this was one of the hardest experiences I have ever been through, because my husband and I were sealed in the temple, we know that we will be with him again in the next life. I also have two more sons. One is serving a mission for the Mormon church in Oslo, Norway for two years. Our other son hopes to follow in his footsteps as soon as he graduates from high school. I also have two beautiful daughters. In addition to raising my family, I own a small quilt shop. Sometimes it feels overwhelming to run a business and raise a family, but I know that as I communicate with the Lord through prayer, He guides me and helps me understand how to prioritize and make sure I am taking care of the most important things first.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has belonged to the Mormon church for generations. As a child it was easy for me to believe the things I was taught, but I have found as I have gone through different experiences in life that I couldn't rely on the faith of my parents or grandparents. I had to learn for myself what it means to be a Mormon, gain my own testimony, and then commit my life to the Lord. The doctrines of the gospel of Jesus Christ bring me such joy and peace. I can't imagine living without them! I know that God lives, and that he loves each and every one of us. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that through Him, we can be made perfect and return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father after this life. I know that the Lord continues to guide us through a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and I am so thankful for him and his counsel. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and that this happened through Joseph Smith, our first prophet in modern days. I know that this church is the same church that was on the earth in Christ's day and that it was established by Him. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that it is indeed another testament of Jesus Christ. When I read and study from its pages, I am filled with such joy and love and I feel so close to our Heavenly Father and our Savior. I wish that all people in the world could feast from its pages and gain a testimony of the very things I have shared here. The gospel of Jesus Christ truly is a marvelous work and a wonder.

How I live my faith

To me, the most important thing I do is to take care of my own spirituality. When I fail to take time to pray and read the scriptures, I find that I become stressed and overwhelmed. If I do those things each day, I am filled with peace, joy, and love for others. Things go more smoothly. I am able to focus better. Another thing that is important to me is teaching my children. I love to share with them the things that I read in the scriptures and hear their ideas and insights on different topics. I feel that as we have these conversations, they are able to understand the doctrines of the Mormon church and the values we uphold. I also feel that allowing them to express their feelings helps them to solidify in their minds why we believe the way we do. I am also President of the women's organization in our local church. I love the women in our organization and try to oversee activities and plan lessons that strengthen their faith and help them to be strong, successful, happy women.
