Hi I'm Joni Putnam

I have been called to serve in the Chesapeake, Virginia mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. I love the outdoors. I love the summer and going boating, hiking, fishing, golfing and many other activities. I don't like winter as much because of the cold but I do love to go snowboarding and skiing. I love my family. They have always been there for me even when I didn't deserve it. I am attending Weber State University but will not attend for the next 18 months as I am going to serve the Lord. I have been called to the Chesapeake, Virginia mission and report to the Provo MTC September 18, 2013. I am excited to teach the people of Chesapeake! I have grown up in the LDS church my whole life. The problem with being raised in the church my whole life is that I didn't care to have my own testimony. I based my testimony off of my parents. I wasn't happy with my life and I finally decided that I needed to find out for myself what direction to go in life. After changing several things in my life and studying the scriptures and praying daily, I found out for myself that this is the true church and that nothing could take the feelings that I had about the church away. I knew this was true and there was no doubt about it!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in the church, I had to find out for myself that it was true. I had to get rid of bad influences in my life and also addictions. It was hard to get rid of some of the things that I got rid of but I know that it helped. I am a Mormon because I know that it is true. I have had the most amazing feelings while studying the scriptures or praying and I just know that this church is true. I feel peace, comfort, endurance, love, and many more positive feelings through this gospel. Why feel pain, guilt, anguish, and hurt when you can feel peace, love, comfort, and endurance? I know that if I wasn't Mormon that my life would be down hill. I wouldn't have faith in anything that I was doing and I would be a mess. Life would be rough. I have been through a lot in life and leaning on God and putting his trust in my life is the only right thing in life. He is there for me and for all of you. He loves each one of us and I know that. I can feel his love for me through all that I do. This atonement is real and Jesus did die for our sins. We can be forgiven for all that we do! We can feel peace through his atonement. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I attend my young single adult ward. I feel like I have two families! I love my singles ward. I currently have two callings. One of my callings is a ward missionary (talk to the less active or non members and invite them to activities-we have way fun activities by the way) and the other one is a leader for the summer activity coming up on July 17th. Both of these callings keep me busy and keep me attending church. They also help me to gain new friends and bare my testimony to several people. These callings help me to keep my faith in the Lord and know that everything will be okay. I love serving people around me because of the feelings that I receive. I also try and go visiting teaching once a month and talk to new members or even just new faces. I attend church on Sunday's and love it! When I was younger I dreaded going to church because I would always feel guilt when I was there.. and it was boring. I have realized that if you listen to the talks and lessons and you have friends in the ward it is so much better! Also if you are trying to gain a testimony church and also activities are the way to go! Try and feel the spirit and have faith in the Lord and he promises that EVERYTHING will be alright. I love love love this gospel! (:
