Hi I'm Rachel

I love math and I draw pictures! I love to laugh and smile! And guess what!? I'm a Mormon! =)

About Me

I am 'academic enthusiast' (nerd). I love schoolwork, and learning new things. I especially love math, art, reading, writing, programming, and solving hard problems. I love being outside! If you like to ask deep questions and analyze things on a deep level, I can relate! I'm very analytical, and enjoy asking questions. One thing I love about the Gospel is that I can always find the answers I'm seeking. I am currently attending college to get a degree in computer science and working as a part-time web developer. I served as a full-time missionary in the Tennessee Nashville Mission for 18 months. I was married in the Logan, Utah temple in December of 2016. My husband, Paul, and I met at college. Together, we enjoy cooking, swimming, going for walks, and having friends over. We love to share our faith and love for our Savior, Jesus Christ, with all of our friends! Everyone is welcome in our home! Raised in a small town in Utah, I have experienced rural life as well as the speed of the city. I enjoy small towns and getting to know my neighbors. I have a close relationship to my parents and siblings. Family is very important to me!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is Christ's true church on the Earth. I was raised in the church, but have had my own experiences that have led me to truly being converted to this Gospel. I have felt Christ's love for me, and have felt the power of His Atonement. I have experienced for myself the comfort and peace that comes from reading and searching the Book of Mormon regularly. I have enjoyed the blessings of the Temple, and have felt of the spirit and the peace that can be found there. I have felt of the Holy Ghost regularly in all my church meetings, and have seen myself grow and become better as I have striven to follow the standards and teachings of the church. I know for myself that this Gospel is the truth, because I have felt it, and I have seen the difference it has made in me! I have felt 'a mighty change of heart' (See Alma chapter 5), and have seen the blessings that have come into my life from this change.

How I live my faith

I was involved in Seminary Council and Young Women's as a teenager, after which I served an 18-month mission in the Nashville, Tennessee area. I am now involved in Institute at the university I'm attending. Institute is a religious education program for college students. I also serve in my congregation as a teacher of the children ages 6 and 7. I love serving others and sharing my faith with those around me!

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is like the Bible in that it is a collection of the writings of prophets. The prophets of the Book of Mormon lived on the American continent and were part of the people from whom American Indians are descended. These prophets wrote of the spiritual teachings, as well as the wars and history of their people. One of the last prophets to have the records, Mormon, took the writings of all the previous prophets and abridged them and arranged them as they are now arranged. He then passed the records on to his son, Moroni, who wrote the final two books in the Book of Mormon before hiding up these sacred records until the Lord saw fit to bring them forth again. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons definitely do not only help Mormons. We strongly believe in and follow the words of our Savior, who taught us that we should love our neighbors as ourselves, and that everyone is our neighbor! We are taught to love and be concerned for all people, no matter their race, religion, background, and beliefs. We even believe in showing love and kindness towards those who express hatred and anger for us. Our humanitarian aid is focused on helping all who suffer. We do not only serve those who share our faith! We believe in serving everyone who is in need! Show more Show less
