Hi I'm Josslynn

I grew up in Vernal, UT. I am a student for life, I am the oldest of four children and I'm a Mormon

About Me

If its outside, I'm there! I love to be outside and doing things with my family and friends, which includes the dog. I love to enjoy nature and see new things. If I have to be inside I'm going to reading or doing something with my hands. I like to watch things grow and enjoy playing in the dirt.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. I was baptized at the age of 8 by my dad. It wasn't until I was in my first semester of college that I started to wonder why I did the things I did. I wondered if I really had a testimony or if I was lying when I told people what I thought I believed. So I decided to read the Book of Mormon for the second time. This time though I accepted a prophet's invitation at the end of the Book of Mormon to ask God if the book was true and to have a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ. I wanted to do something with answer I was given not just to know. I wanted to be able to tell people with a sure knowledge that I knew the Book of Mormon was the word of God and that Joseph was really a prophet. I finished the Book of Mormon at about 1 in the morning and knelt down by my bed side and asked if it was true. I was overcome with the warmest sweetest spirit. It felt like somebody who loved me very much had just wrapped me in a hug. I knew in that moment that the book was true and so was everything else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing with others each and every day. I'm currently serving a mission in Washington state. Its been amazing and I love to teach people about the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is something that is very personal to me. I've been able to gain my own witness that it is true by reading from the scriptures daily and praying to ask my Father in Heaven if it is true. Each time I do this I gain a stronger testimony of the truth. I strive to represent the Savior each and every day and to be worthy of his blessings as I keep his commandments.

In whom should we have faith?

Josslynn
The scriptures teach that we should have faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only one that was perfect on this earth and able to show us the way back to our Heavenly Father. Faith isn't just believing in something that you can't see though. Its an action word. As you have faith you are doing things to show that you have faith. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Josslynn
We don't worship Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God just like Moses or Noah in the Bible. God the Eternal Father and his Son, Jesus Christ are who we worship. We know that it is through Jesus Christ that we are able to return to our Father in Heaven. We pray to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is just a prophet we respect greatly who revealed to us the true character of God after it was lost centuries ago. We are thankful for that knowledge so that we might have true faith in our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Josslynn
You can know that Mormonism is true by asking God. The Bible tells us that "if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God"(James 1:5). This principle still applies in today's world. God doesn't expect us to just believe everything that we hear. He wants us to find out for ourselves if something is true and the way to do that is to ask. God is the teacher in life and He wants to help us grow and learn as much as we can. When we ask a question of a teacher, they usually don't give us the answer right away. They expect us to study it, think about it, and then come up with a plan for ourselves. God is the same way. As we study out whether the Church is true, learn as much as we can and then come up with a plan of action for the answer, God gives us an answer. God answers through the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost doesn't talk very loud and he usually uses our thoughts, feelings, and impressions to tell us an answer. As you pray to know and study the Book of Mormon, pay attention to the feelings of your heart. In Galatians chapter 5 verses 22-23 we are taught "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance." As we have those feelings after asking God, we can know we have received an answer to our prayers. I know that God does answer prayers and give us knowledge as we seek to learn it. I know He loves and cares about me and my concerns. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Josslynn
When missionaries visit your home, they share a message of Jesus Christ and how to use His Atonement. They do it using different messages and sharing how God has called a prophet to the earth today. They will leave invitations for you to act because this message isn't just to be heard, but to be followed. The share God's plan for us and why we are here on the earth and Christ's critical part in that plan. They will share their excitement for Jesus Christ and the plan with you and help you to receive your own answer about the things they are teaching. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Josslynn
Faith comes from hearing the words of others that have faith. The scriptures are full of people and their examples of faith. Studying the scriptures helps our faith start to increase. Prayer is another way to have our faith increase as we ask our Father in Heaven for his confirming witness that what we have been studying is true. Once we have studied and prayed it, it is up to us to live what we have been studying. John 7: 17 says "If any man will do‍ his will, he shall know‍ of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether‍ I speak of myself." This is a great way to have our faith increase because that faith comes from living the gospel of Jesus Christ. By following the teachings of Jesus, also found in the scriptures and words of modern prophets, our faith increases. Show more Show less
